Spate of Early Morning Attacks Heighten Concerns: Women Urged to Avoid Walking Alone as Robberies Escalate

A woman on Wireless Road fell victim to an armed robbery when a lone gunman in a silver Toyota Vitz demanded her black Samsung S12 phone around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 25.

The assailant, described as tall and slim, pointed a small black handgun at her. She promptly handed over her phone, and the perpetrator fled southward in the vehicle.

Another incident on St. Johnstons Village main road involved an All Saints woman who was assaulted but not robbed. A lone gunman, exiting a navy blue Toyota Vitz, struck her near a Spanish bar while she was on her way to work. In light of these morning attacks, a source recommends that women, in particular, avoid walking alone.

The source suggests employers provide transportation, especially for night shifts, picking up and dropping off employees at their homes.

  1. Where is the police patrol? You have the times of these robberies. You have the kind of vehicle- Vitz. You know the perpetrators are tall and slim. You know they firearms! Stop, Search, Arrest. Charge. Take them off the streets before they kill someone.

  3. There is a root to these problems, if unemployment is not the issue , then what? Has anybody observed the number of young people who have become compulsive gamblers in the ever increasing number of poorly regulated casinos infecting the island like a disease. The machines are designed to pay our 70 to 80% of what they take in , but with the progressive jackpot system only one person wins every week , every body else have lost their pay-checks. Compulsive gambling is now listed as mental illness by the DMS5 . Start a program of help to beat for the addicted and control over the Casinos so that ” intermitted reinforcement built into the design of the machines , so that those vulnerable to addictions get hooked. Some Desperate broke young people may resort to petty thefts. Addictions to drugs or habits can get deadly

  4. That’s an interesting recommendation. We should feel safe to walk and why must we feel like we can’t walk at any time of day or night? There should be more done to ensure we are safe. Cameras. Patrol. Prompt Investigation.

    • Peter no say I do agree with you where are the cameras or the police patrol our ladies shouldn’t have too live in fear I wonder if these robbers don’t have sisters or come from a mother who is a woman..what shame nothing put in place for our ladies .these Employers should have a pick up transport for their workers especially the ones who do Security or work at Hotels ..Lord have Mercy keep our ladies safe.

  5. The Vitz seems to the car of choice for robbers. How many of these vehicles are on island? Can the police track the owners of these vehicles.

  6. St. John’s Parish has become one big whorehouse, rum shop, dope shop and human pig pen. Therefore it’s not surprising that crime is running rampant through its streets. It’s not surprising that the freaks are taking. Freaks come out at night. The freaks come out at night.
