Some Day Care Centers Operating Illegally

2

A day care center operator says while she and others have had to close there are others who are operating illegally.

The concerned operator who did not want to be named says the operators who are flouting the law are not even registered.

She says the matter has been brought to the attention of the authorities.

The operator says it appears that the authorities lack the power to do anything about it or are unwilling to.

Day care operators are in the spotlight after complaining that they cannot operate online since it is costing them money and not effective for children.

  1. It’s possible to have proper child care under the current guidelines: in the UK for example the LAW states that for kids under 3 it should be 1 adult with 4 children, in ontario it’s about the same.
So given that social gatherings allow 5 people to gather a group of 4 parents can get together and either 1. All pay together to have 1 person baby sit the kids (4 kids plus baby sitter is 5 which matches the guidelines) or
2 if money is tight the parents could “rotate” care ie parent 1 has the kids on Monday parent 2 on Tuesday etc.
To be honest I am sure there are plenty of preschool teachers who would be happy to get these baby sitting “gigs” as it’s better than sitting at home while not collecting a salary which means that kids can receive the same education they would have in a daycare setting.

The daycare closure only becomes a “thing” if parents have their kids in crowded centers ie with 1 teacher and a pile of kids which imo should be illegal anyway just as it is in the UK, Ontario etc.

  2. Not true! The complaint is 1. that online does not meet the needs of under 5yrs fully and is therefore not effective. Online is not happening in this sector. 2
that operators therefore do not have the substantial income/full salery that teachers at Primary/Secondary level who are doing online are getting. 3. Operators cannot continue to sustain their facilities without any income. Thetefore some are in danger of.permanent closure.
