Soldiers To Assist Police With Holiday Security

The Royal Antigua and Barbuda Police Force and the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force have joined together to increase visibility and patrols throughout St. John’s.

Their presence will also be felt in several rural districts where threats have been detected.

Officials say though criminal activity in the state is low, a few brazen criminals with guns and cars have gone on the offensive, robbing businesses and occupants of cars by the display and use of weapons.

“The Police are determined to find them and to arrest them. The Public is assured that all is being done to solve this spate of robberies which alarms everyone” a government release stated.

At Christmas time and other holiday periods, criminals attempt to increase their spending money by engaging in robberies.

  1. I sure hope they have the authority to shoot thieves caught in the act. That’ll send a message, loud and clear. It’s time to get the scum off the streets. The police and defense forces are to be commended.

  2. I have been saying this for a long time. Better late than never. We welcome this measure of safety. This will boost the confidence of Antiguans and Barbudans. I hope this could be permanent.
