Source: realnewsantigua.com- The Soft Crust Restaurant on Cross Street fell victim to an armed robbery early in the morning of May 4th. Around 4:20 a.m., as the owner was closing the establishment, two masked men attacked him, striking him with a firearm and causing a severe head wound.

The assailants forcibly entered the restaurant and made off with the cash register, which contained approximately $4,000, and an iPhone 14 Pro Max, valued at $1,400.

Additionally, a customer from Pickets was robbed of $320 during the incident.

The criminals then fled the scene in a gray Volkswagen Golf.

The wounded owner, a resident of MAA Hill, was urgently taken to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center by Emergency Medical Services and is reported to be in stable condition despite the traumatic experience.

Authorities, including officers from the Criminal Investigations Department and other units, conducted a thorough search of the area in hopes of locating the perpetrators, the getaway car, and the stolen items.

Despite their efforts, the search yielded no results.

The incident was officially reported to the police headquarters by a senior officer managing the 911 emergency hotline.

This latest incident underscores the persistent issue of gun-related crimes within the community, leaving residents increasingly concerned for their safety and calling for enhanced security measures.

  1. If this dotish government AND police force would make it much easier to obtain a gun license, this problem would be curbed in weeks!! Not by vigilante justice but by the people being given the opportunity to fight back

    • @Gunnie…

More guns in business owners hands will not curb the problem. You will end up with more guns on the streets, in the hands of untrained and inexperienced individuals, who’ll end up making rash decisions, as in, being trigger happy. This will lead to more casualties, as in, innocent bystanders getting hurt or even killed.

What is needed, are matrices with various approaches working in tandem.
One approach is to close all bars, establishments which serve cook/fast food at midnight on weekdays and 2am on weekends. The ALL NIGHT FETES gotta go. These establishments and entertainment functions puts additional burden on the public services (EMS to law enforcement to waste collection).
Now, if businesses want to operate during or on a twenty four hour cycle, as in open to the public for 24 hours, they must be willing to pay higher taxes to accommodate them (not going to happen).

What will happen soon enough, even with business owners being legally licensed to carry firearms, there will be the #BURN_OUT FACTOR (physical, emotional, mentally) of law enforcement officers and other workers like EMS personnel. Remember, there is not an endless supply of law enforcement officers and medical personnel. Adding more comes at a cost which many are not willing to pay, as in HIGHER TAXES.

The criminals are hyped, because the perfect CRIME STORM is about to hit.
SIDS4 will require masses amount of overtime for EMS and law enforcement. On top of SIDS4 is ICC World Cup Cricket. On top of these are the BACCHANALIA and ORGY DRUNKARD FESTIVALS of #fetting and carnival.
Now pray no hurricanes nor heavier earthquakes shake up these because, it’ll be one hell of a ride.

I hope, that you now understand, why some in the law enforcement community were pushing for LIMITED STATE OF EMERGENCY in some areas; but, that would be discriminatory.
Do you get the #QUANDRY? The solution does not lie in more legal guns on the streets.

Please read RAS MOOD reply. Then read it again and again and again. Now try to comprehgend it.

One other thing, according to the “small arms survey of 2017”, the USA has the most guns per population. How is crime there. Last i saw parents there being sentenced to prison for gun crimes of there children.

One last other thing. On that above mentioned survey, the Bahamas leads the Caribbean region. The same Bahamas that the US Embassy earlier this year issued a travel advisory against.

Read Ras Mood comments and learn

  2. This is getting utter ridiculous and totally out of hand now. Are these criminals running the country?

We demand action now from the government and also the relevant authorities. If you haven’t got the manpower, just say so. It can’t be the finances, because Prime Minister Browne says Antigua & Barbuda is now an economic powerhouse.

WHAT’S THE DAMN RELUCTANCE TO DO SOMETHING?

Are we NOW reaping what was sowed by the influx of migrants at the last General Election, who were allowed to vote?

    • i meant to say the next homicide will be a criminal because this is getting overbearing now.

  3. another crime as described in my previous message that shows there are no adequate proactive policing measures being used that deter and prevent crimes in Antigua.

Please, I am begging you, let me do my job. I have the education, experience, research and recommendation. This is my field. Let me guide, direct, and advise you on crime prevention, detection, and national security (also international relationship, and law that includes victim rights)
