Thursday 30th, December 2021 –

To ensure that the Antigua & Barbuda Social Security Board (ABSSB) continues to honour its financial commitment to all beneficiaries and to enhance Contributors’ Funds, the ABSSB is reminding the public of the Social Security (Collections of Contributions) (Amendment) (Regulations) Statutory Instrument No. 60 of 2016, that the increasing of Contribution Rates by ½% will come into effect on January 1st, 2022.

The contribution rates for 2022 will therefore be 13½% for the public sector; and 14½% for the private sector, while the Self-Employed rate remains at 10%.

The following Table shows the breakdown of the contribution rates:

Employee – 5 ¼ %

  1. Whilst that is happening, do we know when people who became sixty tree years ago, will get their social security?

  2. This is bull shit to the stinkiest when pensioners can’t get the money on time. The Dunce Government needs to go now. No held for people, they just sucking workers like young calves.l

  3. Social Security, next year will not be like 2021, I need my money I contributed on time sine 1970 whatever. I need medical attention, food and pay bills.

  4. Government out of Ideas no doubt. No creative juices here, just increase that will insure more issues for the people. Time to fire from the top

  5. Government runs the program into the ground by taking out the Scheme’s money and by not putting in its own contributions and because of that, the workers now have to pay more? How is that fair? That’s like a criminal commits a crime and the courts make the victim serve the jail time. Not good.
