Anthony Smith Condemns Attempts to End His Political Career

St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda – All Saints MP Anthony Smith delivered a powerful address in Parliament today, condemning efforts to undermine his political career and asserting his dedication to serving his constituents.

Smith began by reflecting on his challenges within the United Progressive Party (UPP).

“My only two sins in the UPP were to challenge for the chairmanship and to support Richard Lewis,” he stated.

He emphasized that his actions were driven by a commitment to the collective good, rather than personal ambition.

“Politics must never be about self; it must be in the collective good of everyone.”

He cited scientific evidence indicating that the nation wanted MP Richard Lewis to lead the opposition party, which guided his decisions.

“Because I made a decision that was in the best interest of the nation, it became the biggest sin against the leadership of the UPP, Mr. Speaker,” Smith declared.

Smith did not shy away from addressing the significant challenges he faced, including deliberate attempts to end his political career.

“I want to place on the record today that their wicked plans to end my political career have failed miserably,” he stated emphatically. “Their wicked plans to deprive the people of All Saints West failed miserably.”

He also had a message for his dictators within the UPP.

“Those in the UPP who want to dictate to elected members what to do must put their hat in the ring,” Smith asserted, challenging them to seek election themselves rather than trying to control others.

Smith said he remains resolute in his commitment to his constituents. “The people placed me in this house to represent their best interest, and that is what I will continue to do,” he affirmed.

  1. Nasty, nasty, nasty!

Good riddance I say, why not admit that the tax-paying inducements offered to you by Gaston Browne turned your head and into a damn fool.

You’ve made your bed now stay in it, instead of disrespecting your former UPP colleagues, who a few days/weeks ago you thought were on the way to dethrone Gaston Browne and the ABLP by the next General Election.

Just gu way, and leave your nastiness behind you, and don’t act like this deceitful Prime Minister.

Just apologise to the constituents of All Saints West for deserting them. Judas 💰

  2. BRIXTONIAN

You continue to make yourself a DAMN FOOL. Everyone leaves UPP with the same message. Two more UPP members are on Their way out by next week. Did you listen to FLED on Dave Lester Payne show ? That speak volumes. UPP will be completely destroyed shortly. BRIXTONIAN you are DUNCE , HYPOCRITE a total disgrace. Shut your damn mouth. Big ARSE Clown you are.

  3. Well said Hon Anthony Smith! It is only persons whose heads are filled with sawdust attacks people’s character.

Let us not forget the great quote:

Great minds discuss ideas; ( PM Gaston Browne & his ABLP administration )
Average minds discuss events; ( Quinn )
Small minds attack people ( UPP, KNIGHT & FRANZ).

  4. Oh please go jump over devils bridge. You left dictatorship UPP for the ever caring, ever always listening no dictatorship Gaston? Ok
I guess we are the jackasses. Richard Lewis walked out of parliment on you too.

  5. Shawn Bird, Fled and Dr. Cleon Athill have all echoed the same sentiments as MP. Smith. Are they wrong for calling a spade, a spade? Always remember that a pig wearing lipstick is still a pig.

  6. Of course Lewis walked out too. He has no shame. They don’t want him in leadership. Everyone who ever support him in the race for leadership gets abused by the leaders in the UPP. Yet still he ah beg leadership at every convention. Lewis put on your big man pants and walk out as well. You nah hab no shame box?

  7. Yesterday Dave Lester Payne had a gentleman on his show that shed some light on some of the goings-on in he UPP party. It make sense now why some of those ALP people were supporting Pringle for leader. Allegedly, Pringle does business with the ALP government; and it seems, he or someone in the UPP party makes more money in opposition than when UPP is the government. It makes sense now why they were bashing Richard Lewis on his bid for leader. They knew they wouldn’t be able to bribe Richard. Also, it makes sense why Pringle as leader hasn’t said a single word about Anthony Smith’s resignation. It seems Pringle hab some ALP skeleton he ah hide!
Who is the snitch in the UPP party that feeds the PM or his minion with what is happening inside of the UPP? It was also alledged that ALP’s money is controlling somethings that happens inside of UPP. Have anyone noticed there is no special focus by the ALP on trying to unseat Pringle; is it because they know it’s futile or, is Pringle a double agent? There is a lot more here than meets the eye. Anthony Smith should spill the beans if he knows anything about what Fled was saying.

  8. Does this fool know how our system works? The UPP membership decides on the leadership not elected MP’s. Because the UPP membership disagreed with lowlife Smith, he sold his dignity for a defunct ministry that none of the bird brains in the ALP wanted. Lowlife Smith ended his own political career. But one thing for sure, by-election coming in St. Philip north before the end of the year!

  9. The focus here is all that Mr. Smith has outlined about the UPP but no one can recall that he ever made any complaints previous to now , which actually puts doubt on his credibility. What about the rebuttal he penned after Mr. Browne accused him of the intended switch, why is this not being addressed by his new supporters? I conclude that Anthony Smith and Gaston Browne are of the same fabric. They are both traitors who have lied to us, to each other and to themselves.

  10. Brixtonian GLORIOUSLY stirring the ABLP acolytes who cannot reply to my honest and straightforward wordplay on their MAD MEDICATED leader, who loves disruption.

However, the critical thinkers will continue to call him out until there’s transparency and accountability – them we’ll retire 😉

  11. Party politics is unproductive and full of drama . It’s time you guys learn to respect each others choices and stop pointing fingers at those who don’t share your views. No individual is tied to to the navel to any party. people come , people go , people grow. Every man is entitled to choose his destiny. Stop trying to bully and dictate to grown folks.

  12. The prime minister is a master tactician, offer you great power to parade you before the people so you can be completely destroyed politically and character wise, then call parliament to assembly to parade you before hid former political colleges, just like runaway slave was punished in open public view to deter anyone else, this is to deter people from thinking of voting for upp again in that constituency and around Antigua, Gaston has masterful control of politics.
