Minister of Health, Wellness, Social Transformation and the Environment Sir Molwyn Joseph is in Geneva, Switzerland for the 76th World Health Assembly (WHA) which began on 21 May and ends on 30 May 2023.

This year’s theme for WHA, “WHO at 75: Saving lives, driving health for all” is consistent with the function of the WHO – promoting health, ensuring that everyone everywhere has access to quality essential health services and protecting people from health emergencies.

Sir Molwyn Joseph in his role as Vice President of the 30th Pan American Sanitary Conference of the Pan American Health Organization, 74th Session of the Regional Committee of WHO for the Americas, presided at the Heads of Delegations Meeting this morning.

During his remarks, Sir Molwyn noted that the COVID-19 pandemic bought to the fore the urgent need for investment in health systems that are resilient and based on primary health care as this is the most effective way to overcome inequities, build resilience and to be better able to prevent, prepare for and respond to emerging public health threats.

He believes that having experienced this pandemic, the Region of the Americas emerged stronger and with a renewed/reaffirmed commitment to solidarity and Pan Americanism.

Minister Joseph is expected to meet with Dr Jarbas Barbosa, Director of the Pan American Heath Organization (PAHO) to discuss health priorities for Antigua and Barbuda and how PAHO can give support.

Ahead of the WHA, Commonwealth Ministers of Health met with Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, The Rt Hon Patricia Scotland, for discussions on lessons learnt from COVID-19 pandemic in relation to Health System Resilience, Health Security and Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Health Ministers also had the opportunity to share progress on UHC and challenges and priorities to accelerate UHC goals.

Accompanying Sir Molwyn at the 76th WHA is Chief Medical Officer (Ag) Dr Teri-Ann Joseph.

  1. Our ABLP Ministers are so highly respected abroad that one wonders why the haters are making so much noise.
But all I can say is Leadership matters. Thank God the majority chose respectable and qualified men and woman to represent us. Such a little Island making so much strive. As Little Destroyer sang, you can’t beat me when I am defending my flag.

    • @sidelines highly respected abroad, my arse!!!!….they say that he keeps repeating the same thing over and over…..many participants just politely nod as not to cause further embarrassment, then they laugh among themselves….
is a good thing he walk with the doctor girl who used to be at clareview to ensure that he takes his medication! wait is his family too, no?

  2. With Antigua & Barbuda being one of the 192 member states/signatories of the WHO, that intend to over-ride our Sovereignty by implementing draconian measures for future pandemics and lockdowns.

The WHO are an unelected group that wants to tell our government (as well as the other 191 members) what to do and when to do it; and if our Health Minister signs over these controlling measures, we’ll have to comply … no ifs, no buts, or maybes.

Molwyn Joseph MUST always look out for the interests of ALL Antiguan voters, and NEVER give up power or Sovereignty to ANY unelected body or organisation, like the World Health Organisation.

    WAKE UP ANTIGUA … WAKE-UP!

FTS, this is never about Molwyn impressing people abroad. Instead he shifted impress the people ah yard.
Asking my friend to come to his home when she inquired about a piece of land is not impressive

    • Yes that is what happens when you ask dirty old men for anything. Your friend should have not asked for anything from a dirty old man
The FaCe of EVIL is on the Screen

  5. I have friend living in Bern,Switzerland. His trash is picked up every week. Unlike in Antigua, where Molwyn is in charge of the Sanitation/ Health Ministry. Garbage has not been pick up in WEEKS. The places are infested with flies and rats.He must be breathing in healthy air in Switzerland.

    • Switzerland has its issues with debris, Wannabee
Interestingly enough, all the talk of the garbage issues has not caused one solitary soul who works for the waste management to say boo to the public
So maybe we can all carry our garbage to the national hero bust down at market and see what happens
My hope for molwyn is that he falls in the gutter down by his office and ingests some of the stink nasty water. Maybe that will help him to CARE
