Sir Lester Bird Mount St. John’s Medical Centre (SLBMSJMC) is pleased to announce its new Board of Directors which includes Glentis Goodwin as the Chairman.
“It is an honor to be appointed to serve as Chair of the Sir Lester Bird Mount St. John’s Medical Centre. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Board and the hospital team as we fight our way out of the COVID crisis and start to plan for a post-pandemic world,” said new chairman, Glentis Goodwin.
“We are committed to fulfilling the organization’s mission and vision—promoting health and ensuring access to high quality healthcare services to the community and to be the regional accredited healthcare institution of choice. Our name has changed but our commitment to patient care remains strong.”
“Now, more than ever, our Board of Directors needs the steady hands of seasoned leaders to continue to steer our hospital through the COVID-19 crisis and into a post-pandemic world,” said Dr. Albert Duncan, SLBMSJMC Medical Director.
“I have every confidence that—with the leadership of Mr. Goodwin—this new board will bring the right mix of best practices, collaboration, and new ideas to help us evolve to meet the changing needs of our hospital and healthcare team, and the patients we serve.”
Goodwin will succeed Sean Cenac, former Board Chairman. Mr. Cenac will continue his service to the Board as its Deputy Chairman.
The Medical Director also extended appreciation to the departing chairman for his leadership and contributions to the board. “I specifically want to thank Mr. Cenac for his leadership of the MSJMC Board,” Duncan continued. “Especially during this difficult time, we are grateful for his enthusiastic service and unwavering commitment. Mr. Cenac’s reappointment to the Board as Deputy Chairman will help to ensure there is continuity of purpose.”
“I offer my congratulations and welcome to the new Board,” said Gary Thomas, SLBMSJMC Director of Administration. “We are excited to have this group of individuals bring their unique talents, expertise and perspectives to the work of the organization in order to further our vision of becoming an internationally accredited healthcare institution.”
The Sir Lester Bird Mount St. John’s Medical Centre Board of Directors is responsible for setting long-term strategy and direction, governing the hospital’s activities, and fulfilling the organization’s fiduciary responsibility. It is composed of 10 appointed members, including the chair and deputy chair.

I’m all for honouring Sis Lester, but that name is just too damn long. Shorten it so something like SIR LESTER BIRD MEDICAL CENTRE. Such a long name is silly
