The lab at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) will be hosting a blood drive on Friday, August 26, in partnership with a local hotel.

Sandals Grande Antigua will be assisting the medical facility to restock its blood bank with the precious and sometimes scarce commodity, considered a literal lifeline.

As a result of the activity, the lab will be limiting its phlebotomy services – or the drawing of blood for tests – for outpatients and closing off at 9 a.m. that day.

This interruption in service will be only for Friday, the hospital assures. Regular services will resume the following day.

Meanwhile, the hospital is asking its clients for patience and understanding as it continues striving to meet the demands of those who need blood most.
