The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) has declared the resumption of its Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) services.

Dr. Albert Duncan, the Medical Director, explained that services from the imaging unit had been impacted by a faulty chiller system, leading to significant downtime.

“We have been tirelessly working to reinstate this service as it plays a crucial role in diagnostics for clinicians in their daily patient care,” Dr. Duncan stated.

He expressed gratitude to the community for their understanding during the past few months and requested patience in the coming months as they recover and readjust to offering a full range of services, anticipating a potential surge in demand for appointments initially.

Dr. Duncan also extended appreciation to colleagues across the hospital and community services for their dedication and positive attitude during what has been a challenging period for SLBMC.

“After conducting a comprehensive review of our equipment and ensuring all necessary maintenance and upgrades are completed, we are confident in resuming the highest quality MRI services,” Dr. Duncan assured.

The dedicated team of experienced radiologic technologists, technicians, and support staff are prepared to assist patients throughout the process, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience.

  3. Dear Dr. Duncan
If this was an issue with the chiller which is a component of the AC system. Why are you The Medical Director explaining the status of the AC and not the Faculties Director?
The fact that you are addressing the issue and not others is indicative of the lack of line ms of authority

As Medical Director this is not the time to be thanking the public for their patience. This is time to apologize to the public and give the public a schedule for AC service to be brought back on line.
This is the time to announce a shade up of the entire management of this Medical Center.
We will not allow you to piss on us and tell us it’s raining.
If you and other truly care you would have brought in Evaporative Coolers,
High-Velocity Cooling Fans or Portable Air Conditioners. They are available to be rented out of Florida and PR.
Your missive Doctor; only goes to underscore the fact that this Medical Center lacks a competent management team.
If this hospital was subject to Joint Commission review they would direct the Government to immediately close it down.
Unfortunately it can’t happen for Antiguans and Barbudans have no other choice.
You and others took the hypocritical oath “Do no harm.” Try to live up to that oath
