The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) has dedicated a day to honouring its team of orderlies, describing them as “unsung heroes” who play a vital role in keeping the hospital running smoothly.
In a statement, the centre said Thursday marked “Thank an Orderly Day”, a celebration of staff members who help transport patients, ensure safety, and provide comfort and care.
“Orderlies are the unsung heroes who keep our hospital running smoothly,” the hospital said. “From helping patients move safely to offering kindness and care, they make a huge difference every single day.”
Members of the public and hospital staff are being encouraged to show their appreciation through smiles, kind words, and personal messages of thanks. The hospital has also invited people to share stories of how an orderly has positively impacted their experience.
“To all of our incredible orderlies: thank you for your dedication and compassion. You truly make SLBMC a better place,” the centre added.
Hospital officials say the recognition day is part of a wider effort to celebrate and uplift all members of staff who contribute to patient care.
