Single lane traffic on sections of Valley Road North and sections of Sir Sydney Walling Highway this week

Date: Monday 9th May, 2022.

Works: Construction Works by C.O. Williams on Valley Rd North and on Sir Sydney Walling Highway.

Ongoing works associated with the Government of Antigua and Barbuda Second Road Infrastructure Rehabilitation project will result in single lane traffic on sections of Valley Road North (VRN) and along sections of Sir Sydney Walling Highway (SSWH) this week. Details of the traffic interventions are as follow:

Valley Road North (VRN)

  • SingleLane traffic on VRN between Jennings Village and Little Creek.

  • There will also be interrupted traffic on VRN between Sugar Ridge and Valley Church to construct Apua junction boxes in the area.

Sir Sydney Walling Highway (SSWH) – Glanville area – three (3) days.

From Monday 9th to Wednesday 11th May, 2022.

  • There will be single Lane traffic on a section of SSWH in Glansville.

From Thursday 12th May and into the weekend.

 

  • There will be single Lane traffic on a section of SSWH between North Sound and the Sugar Factory from Thursday to lay Asphalt.

All traffic interventions will be controlled by flag persons. Road users are advised to proceed with caution.

  1. Since we’re talking about the road construction in the South, we’re asking for a sign to alert drivers on either sign that there is a one lane traffic with traffic light on either side of the road on the hill close to OJ’s Restaurant. A driver who didn’t realize there was a traffic light overtook a line of standing vehicles and had to come to an abrupt stop when they saw there was a stoplight. Put some visible signs way before to let drivers know a light is there.

    • Makes sense. Hopefully they will implement those suggestions
