The sentencing of Brittany Jno-Baptiste, who admitted to the 2021 killing of 66-year-old Wendy Jane Finch, has been adjourned to April 1, 2025.
Jno-Baptiste, now 24, pleaded guilty to manslaughter due to diminished responsibility, following psychiatric evaluations that diagnosed her with cannabis-induced psychotic disorder.
The brutal attack occurred on October 4, 2021, inside Finch’s home in Piccadilly, Antigua.
Reports indicate that the violent altercation was triggered after Finch refused Jno-Baptiste’s request to make a phone call.
The younger woman later entered the home through an unlocked door and attacked Finch using a pair of pliers found inside the residence, inflicting fatal injuries.
During court proceedings, Jno-Baptiste expressed remorse for her actions, apologizing to Finch’s family and her own parents for the pain caused.
Her defense argued that her mental health condition played a significant role in the crime, while prosecutors emphasized the brutal nature of the killing.

Initially charged with murder, Jno-Baptiste’s guilty plea to manslaughter was accepted due to her diagnosed mental impairment.
The adjournment means she will remain in custody until sentencing next year.
The court is expected to consider psychiatric reports, legal arguments, and victim impact statements before determining an appropriate sentence.

April feels far away—hopefully, there won’t be any more postponements.

Happy All Fools Day
She deserves death how can u kill someone over a phone call smh now the case put off again have you all think about the family an what they going thru smh
Psychological sentencing in reverse! Once, not long ago, race played a large role in determining sentences. Black (wo)man kills white (wo)man, case ruled simple. Lock his/her black behind up in not hang him/her. I guess that black people in Antigua have found some kind of voice, not necessarily a good voice but that is loud enough to make many, in high and low places, cower. Take for example the case the white? or at least white-skinned fitness trainer who was recently MURDERED by a black “local”. Astonishingly, the murderer was allowed to walk free of the charge of MURDER. And now we await the sentencing of a young black female who recently murdered a white resident. And while the date for sentencing has been set for April 1st, ironically All Fool’s Day, the hollering has begun. The poor KILLER had issues, a victim of herb culture(!!), childhood traumas, abusive parents blah, blah. blah.
So in this new environment, ressembling Trump’s racist mentality, don’t expect to bring your foreign selves here and expect justice in the courts whether you deserve it or not. A noisy mob is far more effective than any well-mannered, well-paid but grossly incompetent and dunce member of our judiciary Expect this MURDERESS to walk free as well!
