According to exclusive information obtained by REAL News, the trial for Ray John, a senior police officer accused of passport fraud, is scheduled to take place on November 14 of this year.
The news of the trial came as a shock to many residents who had already assumed that the case would never reach court, especially after the recent dismissal of charges against John’s co-accused, his mother Yvonne Nickie.
It is alleged that John had previously requested the trial judge to dismiss his case due to numerous adjournments spanning five years. These delays were reportedly caused by the prosecution’s lack of preparedness.
However, the judge decided to grant an adjournment for this week, providing the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions with a final opportunity to present their case.
Despite the trial date being set, there are still individuals who remain skeptical about whether the case will actually proceed.
“Everyone already knows who Ray John works for,” expresses a young woman to our Newsroom. “This is Antigua, and here, politicians don’t go to jail. So anything can happen between now and November,” she concludes.

There is always a first in everything. Never in the history of Antigua have we ever heard that a sitting a chief magistrate has been slapped with 10 charges. Ray John case may not be different. We should have confidence in our judiciary system and moreso our present DPP. The accuse may need to realize that bucket goes to the well daily but one day the bottom may just drop out.
There is no hiding from Saturn.
When will GB and Olabanjo faces prosecution for their involvement in people trafficking?
It’s amazing, there have been no news regarding Gaston’s migrants for a very long time including the one that was allegedly admitted to hospital to give birth. Has the mother to be given birth and was Gaston or Olabanjo nominated as godparents?
St Mary’s South needs to be alert, as some of them may have been given rights to vote.
What has happened to the West African who was involved in fraudulent activities, when will he appears before the courts? No doubt the police has conveniently lost the charge sheets.
Why this matter took 5 years to be heard in a Court? Hopefully when November comes this year.It is not adjourned again for another 5 years.
This police officer if you readers can recall was awarded by the Government, while the citizens of Antigua were baffled, because of the things were hearing on the street.
This is a clear example of political interference.
Gerald Watts has made a career quoting and interpreting Constituents clauses. Ge has never been challenged until recently. He has been so successful with this gimmick that many laymen like: “On The Sidelines” has attempted to copy Watts by stating the Judiciary and the Executive branch of Government are independent.
Even constitutional Theorist knows in practice it seldom happens. There always seems to be two set of laws: one for the rich, the elites, the Nepo babies, and the politicians and one for the masses.
WHERE IS CUTIE BENJAMIN ?

Who say politicians no go to Jail….ask Robert Hall to whom in jail he just carry mosquito repellent ….in the 70’s… so don’t fool yourself.
The reason they don’t go jail today…because hand wash hand….they are all friends. Ask Tim Hector and the outlet news paper…Dry Hill was the favourite breakfast place for the U.P.P…so Tim say!…so no worry….
Let’s see how this unfolds. I would not hold my breath. This scandal goes all the way to the top, so people in high places have a lot to loose. This country is so corrupt it’s not even funny. The fact is, I have no confidence in our judicial system or the DPP.
