The senior police officer accused of sexual harassment by at least two junior male officers has been suspended from the Royal Police Force of Antigua & Barbuda, according to reports.
Public Safety Minister Steadroy Cutie Benjamin is denying that the individual was suspended over the weekend as the Police Service Commission investigates the matter.
However, a police officer who is closely related to the matter indicated that the embattled officer was asked to take holiday.
He was also asked to respond to the allegations within five working days.
A replacement for the high ranking officer has already been identified. Last week, documents relating to the allegations of sexual harassment was leaked on What’s App and social media.
Public Safety Minister Steadroy Cutie Benjamin says he will not get involved in the investigation which is solely a matter for the Police Service Commission.
The commission has not commented publicly on the matter.
