Senator Michael Joseph calls for community support after fatal accident
Senator Michael Joseph has offered his condolences to the family of Shawn Jones, who died in a car crash on the night of December 18, 2024.
The accident has left Jones’s family, including five children aged between two and nine, in mourning.
“The family is going through a very, very tough time, and they’re going to need a lot of support,” Senator Joseph said during the budget debate in the Upper House.
He urged the public to offer prayers and assistance to help the family cope with their loss.
The senator appealed to the community to come together in support of the Jones family during this difficult period.
“I’m asking for prayers for them as they deal with this moment,” he said.
The tragedy has prompted discussions about the broader implications of road safety and its impact on families.

Why are you dropping this obligation squarely in the Lapp of the community Mr. Joseph, why ? I do realise that his children do need help and much support, but why are you not calling on the Antigua Labour Party, for whom he was working and of which you are also a part of, whom put him in this precarious position, of driving and unsafe vehicle that caused him to lost his life. Your solicitation for support needs to begin with the Antigua Labour Party, long before now.
Said to say !!! and to remind you also, that Mannie James children also needs help, after their father was shot down like a dog in the street by the police. I never once heard you advocating on their behalf, or any of your Labour Party Supporters, not even your Government.
Shawn Jones has met with an unfortunate Demise, for which I am totally saddened about, and I do extend my deepest condolences to his entire family and friends on his passing.
But don’t try to portray this as a community concern only, yes !! we all are concerned, but I expect the Labour Party to come forward and take control of their obligation by taking care of Shawn Jones Children, especially at this Christmas Season..
The Labour Party is in Government, so they have Government resources to Channel were needed, as you are aware of, instead of frivolously giving it away to their supporters, like they usually do, Shawn Jones family should now become the recipient of such kind of support and not to forget, Mannie James children also.
