Senator Knacyntar Nedd is urging Barbudans to embrace change and work collectively toward progress, emphasizing the need for bold leadership and a shared vision for the island’s development.
As one of Barbuda’s youngest leaders, Senator Nedd has been vocal about her commitment to creating opportunities that benefit the community while preserving its unique identity and heritage.
In a recent interview on Pointe FM, Senator Nedd highlighted the challenges Barbuda faces, including infrastructure deficits, housing needs, and economic sustainability.
She called on Barbudans to move beyond traditional resistance to change and to actively participate in shaping a future that includes improved education, modern infrastructure, and sustainable tourism.
“Change is inevitable, but progress is a choice,” Senator Nedd said.
She underscored the importance of seizing opportunities presented by government initiatives and external partnerships to propel Barbuda forward. Her vision includes not only rebuilding but reimagining Barbuda as a model of resilience and innovation.
A particular focus of her appeal was directed at the island’s youth, whom she described as critical to Barbuda’s future. Senator Nedd encouraged young people to get involved in local decision-making and to seek opportunities for education and entrepreneurship that align with the island’s development goals.
She also addressed concerns among some Barbudans about preserving the island’s unique communal land system and cultural traditions amid development pressures. Senator Nedd reaffirmed her commitment to protecting Barbuda’s heritage while advocating for balanced progress.

“Development doesn’t mean losing our identity. It means strengthening it and ensuring that future generations can thrive while honoring our history,” she stated.

Talking for your bread huh
ALL the naysayers under here. How is it up to the time evidence was provided on how long this thing started by the same Barbuda Council, is Gaston’s fault. Come on people. You may not like what is happening, but it’s not as if all this started just now. Be fair.
Also, did you hear Ms. Nedd speak about the meeting held just last Thursday and the same Mr. Warner was a part if it? I guess y’all conveniently over look those things. Bunch a hypocrites y’all are!
We are a unitary state. There is no ownership from since time memorial. ALL the lands belong to the Crown.
Trevor Walker too was part of a meeting in 2018 when they decided to develop this area, now all of a sudden, because they not in government, it’s an issue and you mobilizing people to go march bout land. Disgusting much!
@Stone. I guess if the shoe was on the other foot, it would be progress and not bullying. Laughable!
Who wants to be out numbered in their own country? You got to be smarter than that Ms Nedd. That line of development is not for the local populace. It’s to accommodate the hundreds of non-nationals that will be introduced to our little island to supply the work force at PLH and his Rosewood hotel, and at the same time change the voter’s register in ALP favor.
People like you make me sick
Senator Knacyntar Nedd is absolutely right in urging Barbudans to embrace change. Progress is essential for growth, and it’s encouraging to see a leader who recognizes the importance of adaptation in a constantly evolving world. However, I think the challenge lies in how change is introduced. While embracing new ideas is important, it’s equally crucial to ensure that these changes are aligned with the needs and values of the community. More dialogue and transparency would go a long way in making sure that change is inclusive and beneficial to all.
change can be difficult, especially when it’s not clear how it will affect people’s daily lives. While I support the sentiment, I believe there needs to be more clarity on the specifics of the changes being proposed. Change is best received when people understand how it will directly benefit them, and I hope the senator provides more details moving forward.
