Washington DC, April 19, 2024 -Senator Dwayne George, the Junior Finance Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, is leading a four-member delegation from the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Governance at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group’s 2024 Spring meeting in Washington DC.
The delegation, which includes Rasona Davis Crump, Financial Secretary; Whitfield Harris Jr, Advisor; and Peter Abraham Jnr, Debt Manager, commenced their participation in the meetings on Monday, April 15th.
The event, scheduled to conclude on Saturday, April 20th, has brought together a diverse array of stakeholders, including central bankers, finance and development ministers, parliamentarians, private sector executives, civil society representatives, and academics.
The IMF/World Bank Spring meetings provide a crucial platform for global leaders to address pressing concerns such as the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness.
Among the highlights of the event was the Caribbean Governors Meeting, where Senator Dwayne George and his team from the Ministry of Finance showcased Antigua and Barbuda’s resilience and prosperity.
Senator George emphasized Antigua and Barbuda’s capacity to overcome challenges and achieve economic growth amidst adversity.
The meeting serves as an opportunity to discuss strategies for further enhancing the region’s development and cooperation with the World Bank.
As the meetings continue, stakeholders anticipate fruitful discussions and collaborations aimed at addressing the world’s most pressing economic challenges.
