Senator David Massiah Advocates for Clarity and Transparency in Revenue Bill Amendments

During Thursday’s session in the Senate, Senator David Massiah raised significant concerns regarding the Revenue Miscellaneous Provision Bill, emphasizing the need for greater clarity, transparency, and inclusivity in the legislative process.

Senator Massiah expressed, “I still maintain my thought because I think if you are asking us as lawmakers, it is best served that if we’re going to do something, let us do it right.”

One of the key concerns highlighted by Senator Massiah was the timeliness of the bill and its implementation. He remarked, “Bringing this bill and asking us to discuss it after April Fool’s Day raises concerns about meaningful discussion and amendments.”

Regarding the rationale behind the amendments, Senator Massiah questioned, “Why the changes are being made? Were there concerns discovered in how it was managed? I’m asking why was there any confidence in the ministers that operate because you’re talking about the Minister of Tourism and the Minister of Health.”

Senator Massiah emphasized the importance of transparent and inclusive discussions, stating, “It is not that I am trying to infer anything. I’m trying to get clarity from the government to really make these things a bit more clear because the average person outside asks why the change.”

In his remarks, Senator Massiah called for a more detailed and informative approach to legislative processes, advocating for open dialogue to address concerns and ensure that legislative changes align with the best interests of the nation.

  1. Why is this fool still in the Senate? So it makes a difference that a Bill is discussed after April 1st?
Because of him LIAT workers have gotten nothing. He perfers to keep playing politics rather than look out for the welfare of the workers. What a waste of time, space and personage.
