Sean Bird denies claims that he is seeking to head the UPP

REAL NEWS: Sean Bird, the United Progressive Party (UPP) caretaker for St. John’s Rural East, is denying claims that he is seeking to contest for leadership of the Party and has been circulating a flyer with that intention.

As a fairly new member of the Party, Bird says, he is seeking only serve the people and his country and not to head the political institution.

He says he has no knowledge of who has been circulating such information, but says people have asked him if he is interested in contesting for the position.

If he were asked, however, he says he would accept the call to lead the Party and subsequently the country.

He says he would not shy away from making a positive contribution to the UPP and to Antigua and Barbuda on a whole.

Meanwhile, Bird cautions that leadership is something that should be taken seriously – which members of the ALP Administration do not seem to understand.

With this government, he says, leadership appears to be about ego and not governing in the best interest of the people and having a plan to move the country forward.

Bird states that leadership includes having a vision for the development of the people and the nation on a whole.

  1. Sean cant run a radio station, but he wants to lead UPP and the country ? His Ambition is disrespecting his ability.

  2. I wouldn’t put it past him to have that thought. Inasmuch as he is aware that he doesn’t have the competency to lead, he will tell himself that he is entitled because his grandfather was the leader of this country.

Unabashedly, he defected to the UPP with the hopes of grandeur, had the opposition been victorious at the last polls.

I promise you that he will never beat Maria Bird-Browne, as she is on her way to lead this country by 2033. Sean’s political career is doomed.

Sean Bird + UPP = Oxymoronic

  3. He is a Bird…and leadership is in his DNA…since the leadership pool of the UPP I think Sean Bird should offer himself up for leader.
When Harold Lovell hand picked Pringle to be his successor and not his challenger Richard Lewis defeat the process of democracy in the UPP
So Sean be the Bird you are born to be….ask Papa…Lester and the other DNA Bird….the one that Lester referred to in Parliament…them no mek joke with wanted to be leaders.
So Sean…throw your hat in the Ring….

  4. I support the UPP wholeheartedly, but the name Bird (as in Lester and even more so with Browne 🥸) makes me feel nauseous and nervous for the country 🇦🇬 that I adore.

Sorry sean, I hope I’m wrong in your case buddy 😁

  5. Very interesting…. Sean Bird wants to lead now…..? Wow!! How crookish can that be ? He left ABLP because of that same intention of not becoming a leader in the ABLP hierarchy.. All I can say to ABLP, be careful, be vigilant & be watchful. Those persons who switch allegiance from the political parties they were in are ALL on a mission to accomplish personal goals. Sean is now showing us that the chicken is coming home to roast

  6. How about winning a seat first as a UPP candidate and by the way I think Lovell was compelled to transfer leadership to Mr Pringle since he was the lone UPP candidate in Parliament.

  7. The UPP seem to have to many person interested in the leadership. That spells trouble. Too many chiefs and no indians.
