Sea View Farm Family Members Remanded Over Shotgun Cartridge Charge

A charge involving the unlawful possession of ammunition has brought three Sea View Farm residents before the Magistrate’s Court.

Averly Jno Baptiste Sr., Averly Jno Baptiste Jr., and Tarnalee Jno Baptiste appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Thursday accused of possessing a single twelve-gauge cartridge without holding a valid firearm user’s licence.

No pleas were taken during the brief appearance because their attorney was not present in court. The matter was postponed until March 11, when the defendants are expected to formally enter their pleas.

  1. How can three persons be charged for possession of a single round?

Surely the police should investigate rather than laying charges to force a plea deal.

  2. Idiots nothing in this speaks of a bullet. It clearly speaks of a shot gun cartridge. Look up what a cartridge is you dunce assholes

  3. That’s 1 cartridge too much without a license.

Someone up to something. It’s a dangerous item.

  4. And you have people who corruptly defraud the treasury of over $15 million and not even one day in court. A car dealership and former head of a government agency, a senator and a minister involve in one of the biggest scandal… nothing happened. Yet three whole human souls reprimanded to prison for a single bullet… I am calling on the DPP to put an end to this foolishness and instead file charges against all individuals involved in the vehicle gate scandal including the person who swept it under the carpet. Mr DPP ….ah waiting

  5. Police need to do their work properly and stop pressuring persons so that one can please guilty so daddy n mommy can go home.

  7. In Antigua people are sent to prison on remand in such a stupid haste. Hey I do understand the law and the offense for having a single bullet. So because their lawyer was not present they were sent to stinking, dirty, unhealthy, unsanitary, inhumane 1735. Why not the state sponsored attorney or allow them to represent themselves. So simple one of them plea guilty and let the rest of the family go free. Take for example I am living with my dad and mom and for what ever reason I carried a bullet into our house. Police come to our home with a warrant and found it. Taken to court and our family lawyer did not show up. All I would do is ask the court to represent myself and plea guilty and let them release my parents.

  8. @ Wong Ping
This also applies to @ Sherfield Bowen Shot Tessa Barthley, these ABLP idiots read but clearly do not understand, hence the nonsense you read in their comments. Where ignorance is bliss it’s folly to be wise

  9. This story reads like when a person from Ovals, Otto’s, Green Bay, Point would be arrrsted and charged, then fined & condoned for a single ganja seed while those crews in Hodges bay, Coolidge were stacking cargo and trailer loads in their yards.

Did they recover a shotgun or a converted 12 gauge flare gun?

  10. It is the job of the police to prove who the bullet belong to….not lock up all three persons and pressure one to admit guilt. I heard of entire household of eight lock up including a 2 year old and a 5 months old and a grandma 85. It is not for one of them to plea guilty so the others can go home…. again I say it is for the police to prove who the bullet belong to

  11. @ Dion Pelle,
Where were you and others when the AG Cutie Benjamin says he has selected a Public Prosecutor but he will not tell who he has selected. No background or experience given.

Months later this mysterious individual as public Prosecutor is on the job when the AG all of a sudden mentioned he is place and working as the Public Prosecutor is on the job.

That was an insult and no one questioned as to why isn’t the public being informed.

Everyone has something to say about this arrest. Why not look at the policies and actions that affects the entire country rather than the sensations of a single family?

  13. If the court continues to take this matter seriously we could reduce the number of shootings and shooting deaths

  14. Sea View Farm making headlines again, and not in a good way. Ammunition charges are serious business, so it’s no surprise the court decided to remand the family while the case unfolds.

  15. This is what happens to parents when they protect their criminal kids. Now look at how a mom and dad get caught up because of a stupid son who feels he is bad. VERY SAD SITUATION
