The Ministry of Education says all repairs and upgrades of public schools across the island are expected to be completed by the end of this week.

Project Officer at the Board of Education Paul Punter said following an assessment to determine the scope of work, the Board began carrying out remedial work ahead of the 4th September, 2017 commencement of the new school year.

He noted that while every public school was given attention, significant work was carried out at select institutions, namely Clare Hall Secondary, St. Mary’s Secondary, Princess Margaret, Freemansville, Golden Grove and Pigotts Primary schools.

Bathroom upgrades, repairs to windows and doors, painting and electrical upgrades were also done at the government institutions.

At the primary schools named, Punter stated more space was created through the construction of new classrooms.

Though he was not specific, Punter noted that a significant amount of money is being spent to prepare the school plants.

The repair work, carried out mostly during the summer break is part of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology’s efforts aimed at improving the infrastructure of public schools around the island.
