On May 27th, all schools, public and private, will switch to remote learning to prepare for the SIDS4 Conference.

Director Clare Browne communicated this closure in a letter, citing the need to facilitate delegate transportation.

Schools will use online platforms like Google Classroom due to unavailable school buses and expected traffic congestion.

Additionally, the National School Bus system won’t provide transportation for field trips from May 21st to June 5th.

  1. Most Secondary schools would have already published their calendar of events indicating that exams begin on the 27th. Mr. Director, could this not have been done sooner? Besides, do ALL students have WiFi access to accommodate online learning?
No biggie. Just another day off for students and a delay of exams for one day. SMH.

    • That’s what happens with lack of foresight and delinquent planning. It clearly shows that Antigua was never in a position to host such a conference.

  2. The education officers within the ministry of education were not consulted. The head and teachers of the secondary schools were not consulted, the parents were not consulted, the teachers Union was not consulted.
So this Jumby crab Education system is throwing our children, our nation’s future to the dust bins again.
Ladies and gentlemen most alarming is that this is happening during CXC and transportation is taken away from them. Clare don’t even remember that exams are held at secondary schools during this time. So the ministry needs to go back to pack and have meetings with the parents and teachers- especially of those that will be doing exams.
So schools cannot be close for those sitting CXC’s. Parents you will have to take your children to school, even pan donkey back !

  3. Excellent idea, certain days can be allocated for online learning instead of face to face learning . We need to practice now to prepare for the future.

  4. Why don’t these idiots in high places contract some of the bus men and some taxi men , it’s exam time and the children needs to be in school
