The government says it is likely to approve a request for funding to undertake improvements to the National School Meals Programme.

The head of the programme and four other managers within the system appeared before the Cabinet on Thursday.

Some work was done at the Coolidge location last year but according to the government, “myriad improvements” are still to be done this summer.

The Manager pointed out that food supply is not a challenge faced by the institution.

“However, many non-food items were required in order to improve its operation. Plates and utensils, ventilation, air conditioning and more reliable vehicle repair/maintenance were required,” said Chief of Staff Lionel Hurst.

According to him, “the Cabinet asked for an estimate in writing; it is to be provided next Wednesday, and is likely to be approved then.”
