A 59-year-old groundskeeper was fined $500 for breaching a COVID-19 protocol at the Freetown Primary School.

Elpert Walker pleaded guilty for failing to wear his face mask in a public space when he was taken before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel-Edwards in the All Saints Magistrates Court this week.

The school principal reported the man to the police when he failed to comply with the legal requirement after receiving verbal and written warnings.

The magistrate scolded the man for ignoring the warnings and for committing the violation on a school compound during class sessions.

He was given a week to pay the fine or spend 7 days in prison.
