Sandals’ Tour Desk Engages Ottos Comprehensive Students in Beach Cleanup on World Ocean’s Day

Beach clean-ups are held worldwide on the 8th of June each year in recognition of World Ocean’s Day.

The tour desk at Sandals Grande Antigua, Island Routes, is also celebrating its 10th year of operations.  As such, the group organised a cleanup of Fort James Beach and its environs.

Twelve First, Second and Fourth Form students at the Ottos Comprehensive School participated in the initiative on Saturday.

Two teachers from the school and Sandals Foundation volunteers were also a part of the activity. Several garbage bags were collected and included items such as napkins, bottles, plates, cups, bottle covers, diapers and a tyre.

The students were given a brief lesson on the importance of protecting the ocean and the role they can play in preserving the environment.
