Ryan Samuel, 29 was sentenced to 26 years in prison for the stabbing death of 28-year-old Sea View Farm resident, Shayne James.

James was stabbed to death while he and his mother waited to catch a bus on May 7, 2015.

Last month, Samuel pleaded guilty to murder while his co-accused, Dane Hart and Lenroy Black both admitted to manslaughter.

When the men alighted from a vehicle on the day of the incident, Samuel was armed with a knife, Hart carried a wooden plank and Black had a stone in his hand.

They all attacked the victim with their weapons and Samuel inflicted several stab wounds about his body.

At Samuel’s sentencing hearing, the judge said he was disturbed by the fact that the attack occurred right in the presence of the victim’s mother.

He began with a sentence of 45 years, which was reduced by the standard 1/3 to 30 years in consideration of his guilty plea.

Four additional years was subtracted from the sentence since Samuel was of previous good character and had a good pre-sentence report.

Co-accused Hart and Black, who were sentenced last Thursday, both received sentences of six years imprisonment for their roles in the incident.

  1. This guy should have served at least 70 years in jail, premeditated murder should be a throw away the key in jail

  2. According to the deceased mother, Samuel and her son were friends. What can cause Samuel to take his friend life? His convicted sentence should have been life in prison without parole. How can Samuel live with himself in knowing that he had took his friend life over something I am sure that he could have just forgave him for? I am sure it would haunted him for life.
Everyday, I talked to my son in choosing his friends wisely. Some of these so call friends are sent and use by Satan as a vessel to killed, steal and destroyed people lives.

  3. Wowwwwwww…..4 JAMAICANS DID YOUSAY?….

What is the GOVERNMENT DOING….. THEY LOVE PREACHING TO LOST ANTIGUAN SOULS …its our caribbean brothers & sisters….

What is HEAD OF IMMIGRATION planning do to do to curb these DEMONS that have infliltrated ANTIGUA …this is embarrassing ANTIGUA …..

A march against IMMIGRATION & MINISTER should be planned shut down the GOVERNMENT UNTIL A PLANOF ACTION AGAINST OUR CARICOM MEMBERS IS PUT IN PLACE ..PPL.N EED TO DISRUPT POINTE FM PROGRAMMING UNTIL THE PM IS FORCED TO ACTION….

    • The government and Immigration Department responsible for allowing all these Jamaicans criminals into our country. Yes, as I said there are few good Jamaicans living among us but most of them are wicked and evil.

  4. These judges are not for real. They show more compassion to the murderers than to the family of the victim. Who ares how good a life they lived before. The fact remains that they committed a vicious and predetermined murder. It is not they were provoked. they stopped their car and attacked the young man. And a mother pleading to them to safe her son’s life was ignored. These judges need to be removed from the bench. And if possible the DPP needs to appeal the sentences of all of them until the Privy Council for that matter.

  5. Why can’t we get the photo of these criminals, their nationality and place of residence. ANR published the residence of the victims but not the murderers.
Murder should be life imprisonment and manslaughter 45 years. These guys will no doubt be on the streets of Antigua in a matter of a few years.

  6. I thought that Samuel was an Antiguan national. I agreed with your comments. We Antiguans and Barbudans need to hold the government and the Immigration Department for allowing these criminals from Jamaica into our country. These people heart are evil. Yes, there are a few good Jamaicans but majority of them are just wicked.

    • From behind your computer screen you are making a “demand”?? You must be a LAPTOP GANGSTA. lol

Jus fulla chat, but won’t go out in public holding a placard or actually doing anything substantial to make a “demand”
