Samuel Jr. fined close to 20k for causing 2015 road death

Charlesworth Samuel Jr. was fined $18,000 for causing the death of 49-year-old Rolando Labrada Blanco in 2015.

Samuel Jr., who was driving a motorcycle on Factory Road, collided with Blanco, a bicyclist, in the vicinity of Antigua Printing and Publishing Company.

A woman who witnessed the incident said the defendant sped passed her vehicle before crashing into the victim, who died on the spot.

The defendant was ordered to pay the $8000 of the $18,000 fine forthwith with the balance due by October 30.

In default, he will spend three years in prison with hard labour.

He was also disqualified from obtaining a driver’s license for two years.

  2. Anoda thing. In my days there were only a few cars in Antigua. No traffic accidents. Now every dog and pussy cat have cars. Where they speeding to I don’t know. Antigua look like a jungle now with so many vehicles and foreigners. Gee me back me ole Antigua. With progress come crime and all other bad vibes. What they say -. Be careful what you wish for.
