Saint Lucia records 156 new cases of COVID-19

St. Lucia on Saturday recorded 156 new cases of COVID-19.

These cases are from a total of 550 samples processed at the Ezra Long Laboratory on Friday Aug. 20. These cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 7,111.

The Ministry of Health also received confirmation of 34 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19. This brings the total number of active cases currently on record in country to 1315. Four of these active cases are in critical care at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date, a total of 34, 601 first doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been administered and 27, 222 second doses.

On Monday August 23, 2021 the Ministry of Health will commence the administering of
the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to the population.

The Pfizer vaccine will be available at all COVID-19 vaccination sites and community wellness centers.

Individuals will now be provided with a choice when taking the COVID-19 vaccine.
