Saharan Dust To Reduce Air Quality – Destin

Climatologist Dale Destin is alerting residents to a fresh surge of Saharan Dust which is expected reduce air quality and visibility.

Destin says it will also inhibit rainfall in Antigua and Barbuda.

“This  has implications for persons with respiratory problems, heart problems, the elderly and the young. These persons who are part of these particular groups, should avoid any prolonged exertion and should be taking the necessary mitigating actions as well as consulting with their physician,” Destin said.

He says the air quality index is expected to fall to moderate levels into the middle of next week.

The air quality index is predicted to be between 50 and 70, while the alert level is at two.
