Persons Are Now Being invited to Submit Tender for Airfield Rehabilitation at Antigua’s V.C. Bird International Airport
The Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) has announced an exciting opportunity for contractors and firms to submit tenders for the rehabilitation of the airfield at V.C. Bird International Airport. This significant project will focus on upgrading critical airfield infrastructure to ensure the continued safety and operational reliability of the airport.
The project will include:
- Asphalt Milling: 160,000 m²
- Excavation: 19,000 m³
- Granular Base Lime Rock (P-211): 8,000 m³
- Cement Stabilized Base (P-304): 4,400 m³
- Asphalt Paving (P-401): 64,000 tonnes
- Concrete Paving (P-501): 8,000 m²
- PCC Panel Replacement: 120 panels
- Additional works, including airfield electrical, line markings, and other essential improvements.
Key areas of the project include selective concrete panel replacement on the main apron, runway 07-25 improvements, and expansion of the Runway 25 Turn Pad for Code E aircraft, among other works. These upgrades are essential to maintaining the airport’s ability to handle increasing air traffic and larger aircraft.
