Ruling Party Says Land For Youth Program ‘Resuscitated’

3

The Land For Youth Program has been resuscitated by the Gaston Browne administration, it announced on Wednesday.

The Minister of Lands announced details of a distribution methodology that will satisfy those who had deposited monies before 2004, and those who have since 2014 made new applications.

Young people between the ages of 18 and 35 years will be sold plots of land at $4.00 per square foot; all the services and paved roads will be included in the selling price.

Many homeowners who purchased plots of land in the past, would be required to pay the provider for connecting them to the electricity grid. That will not happen in this new dispensation.

  1. Mr. Prime Minister Gaston Brown, what about those people who had registered for the same Land For Youth under the Lester Bird administration and still haven’t receive any lands up to this date?

  2. But there is no election pending? This ancient program is normally rolled out by ABLP just before a general election to bribe the youth with promises of nearly free land if they vote for Labour. Plots are allotted but not transferred and then when the election is done, no land is transferred to the youth and the whole thing is forgotten until the next election when it is resurrected from the dead once again to bribe/fool off the new set of youth voters.
