General Manager of Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) Esworth Martin has informed the Cabinet that the metal poles that carried red lights near Jabberwock Beach were removed because they were rotting at the base.
The General manager said the poles could have been blown over during strong winds, tropical storms or hurricanes.
The APUA engineers saw the metal poles as a danger to life and property. They have been replaced by wooden poles but have not yet had the lights mounted on the same.
