Rosewood Hotels and Resorts is slated to begin construction on a 50-suite property in Barbuda that will also include residences.

The company hopes to open the resort in 2028.

The Rosewood Barbuda, to be developed by Murbee Resorts, will sit on 85 acres and 2,952 feet of beachfront property and will offer three eateries, including a farm-to-table restaurant; two pools, one of which will be for families; a fitness center; and the brand’s wellness concept Asaya Spa, which will have six treatment rooms.

Rosewood Barbuda will be the company’s fourth property in the Caribbean, joining the Rosewood Baha Mar in the Bahamas, Rosewood Little Dix Bay in the British Virgin Islands and Rosewood Le Guanahani in St. Barth.

  1. As an Antiguan I loathe this kind of news. There is no need to build any more hotels on beaches. It is one of our biggest problems. New hotels need to be built with a road separating them from the beach so that locals can continue to enjoy what belongs to them by law. Also, Barbuda doesn’t need another hotel property. It is time for the government to get creative and find other ways to generate revenue.

  2. We are coming to end of 2023.They are planning to open a Hotel in 2028.Is it going to take 4 years 2024 to 2028 to build a Hotel.

  3. Dear Citizens, your Country is being sold out from under you. The government is acting unilaterally. How is this happening behind closed doors. Where is the investigative and informative news? The things that make your country special are going to be exploited!!!

  4. We do not need another hotel project negotiated that never seems to get off the ground. How about asking for assistance with the building of a proper penal facility to replace the delaminated one in St. Johns .
