  1. Mr Roger is a good man I am expecting greatness from him ….maybe now Apua staff will get decent raise .

  2. I feel sorry for this guy… it doesn’t matter who ALP brings in. The issue remains with the infrastructure and the broken pipes! Until the government is prepared to acknowledge that and invest to fix it, this shall be the ongoing issue. ALP is trying to deflect and run from the real issue!

    • Then why didn’t the UPP fixed the problem when they had the same chance of replacing the broken pipes. The problem is not new and existed during 2004-2014. Why wasn’t it fixed then?

  3. Laugh out Loud. He will not be there long enough to effect any change.

He is ‘interim’. The man who the public have been hearing about will be installed shortly.

  4. Oh boy. Wrong move. Remember Elsworth was the CFO who was promoted after Peter Benjamin was unceremoniously fired. Now we are putting another accountant in place to run the show. Sorry I do not think Roger is up to the task. He has been their for many many years indeed, but running the company is not the same as running the accounts department. I would put the former Chairman Luther Lee in that position. He knows exactly what needs to be done.

    • FTSL your history is a bit off. Martin was chosen after the APUA report done by Don Mitchell pointed out that Chaku {then GM for about a year) did not meet the criteria for being GM. It reminded that his then being the chairman of the UPP would also cause accusations of political bias. You may recall his moves involving a well known media house owned by the Birds.

  5. Mr Tonge I hope Moses taught you how bring water from rocks. If not my advice to you is get out as fast as you can.

  6. A good guy, but he has been climatised to the current private contractor of power generation, will he really look to secure Apua assets? Including that waddadli power plant that was purposely brought to it’s demise by the former gm and electricity manager to make space for private interest, the kind of electricity demands to run these desalination plants is equivalent to a village consumption of power ,Apua should have been able to generate that or else the more desalination plants are install the more the private power station get paid. I hope for one the vindictive atmosphere In the company is addressed, and bring justice to employees even at managerial level like engineers and other lower rank skilled workers who may be victimized by supervisors and engineers. So productivity can accelerate, new ideas of doing things must be sought out away from the cultural milleu that exist, power suppression should be discouraged to modern technique of working live on the electricity. As for the water workers while working in the trenches to repair pipe lines there should be shoring equipment to protect worker from collapse soil that cause injury, digging the trenches slaunt when it’s shallow instead of straight vertical excavation or plywood barriers to block collapse, the solution to the victimization is to standardized workers job descriptions like it’s done internationally since Apua has an anomaly where all foreman regardless to what trade are paid the same. where you will have a journey linesman or plumber as the final attainment, and then a responsibility allows to be the supervisor or foreman, that means you can rotate it over the years and not one person holding workers and the company hostage and victimization, in this case you will have a more rounded staff since presently the sitting supervisors are outmoded and obsolete who become threatened by their subordinates who are learning new ideas that challenges the supervisor that creates the victimization. Water lines need modernization with inline booster pumps to push water up hills, and power line need new type of cables like tree cable for forested area where the aesthetic of the plants cannot be destroyed to offer services, even the cell towers in other countries is disguised as palm trees with a facade covering for aesthetic around the towers to blend in with property aesthetic , my onliest hope even though I am not in that company is to see it’s improvement, the last person was Mr Piggotts in the 80’s that tried. Let’s hope Mr tongue become that conduit for change.

  8. I have known Stungy for a long time. He is a much nicer person than his sister the jezabel in charge of ABS.
He is a labourites not a gastonite, so I hope he don’t become a yes man and compromise his integrity.
Aunty Gwen would not approve of that.

  9. Not much to say on Mr Roger Tonge’s appointment (I wish him well), but to say that I hope he’s as accessible as Mr Martin was.

My dealings with Mr Martin were always courteous over the years, and he made sure that any work that was needed to be carried out for me, was in a timely and professional manner.
