Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney says crime for the first half of 2020 is down compared to the same period last year.
He said 1400 cases of criminal activity were recorded this time last year as compared to now where “we are just reaching the 1000 mark now.”
“We look at our crime figures, we are approaching the halfway mark and we have much less than compared to the year before,” the commissioner said.
He did not provide specifics when he spoke on state media this morning but said “when we look at all the categories of crime there has been a reduction.”
Rodney is thanking police officers who “have stepped up in spite of the additional task that covid brought on.”
“The amount of additional patrol teams that we have deployed…the efforts of the joint task force all these things have helped us,” he said.
The top cop stated that although Covid-19 dealt a curve ball, the police have been able to adjust.
He also stated that the reduction in crime has not been because of the ongoing state of emergency for the coronavirus.
“We saw what was happening in 2019 and we came up with some strategies to address it, then by March the world changed. Obviously we had to make adjustments and change some of the strategies, but what we notice, even for our reduction in crime efforts by January February there was a reduction before Covid came.”

Well he actually managed to promote persons who had absolutely no hand in the crime fighting strategies he said he came up with. I am left wondering how typing a letter in the commissioner’s office makes one a sergeant. How does one account for that? What’s the criteria ?

Would they prefer it to be up? or
Should it be at a certain rate?
Should we make ourselves more vulnerable to get it back up? What must we do with this kind of information?
