Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodeny

Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney has responded to calls for international assistance to solve the murder of Customs Officer Nigel Christian.

“I would say we are capable, but we’re not ruling out assistance from any agency,” Rodney said.

Christian was killed execution style by gunmen posing as soldiers on Friday. Since then calls have grown stronger for international assistance.

“I think we have the resources and we have the expertise but in a case like that you don’t know how much information you might have and what type of information you might have and that is where the determination has to be made.

“We have already started with our regional partners because we have a lot of expertise right within the region. Right within the region we have some expertise that we can tap into and we have started to speak to them,” Rodney added.

  1. They must be invited in. Besides Scotland Yard, the government should also call upon their counterparts from Cuba and the People’s Republic of China. These people know how to get to the bottom of things. These killers and those behind them need to be rooted out, and upon legal conviction need to be executed according to the law. These wicked people will destroy the tourist economy of this nation, and the lives of many Antiguans and visitors, if they are not stopped. We must stand with our police forces in their efforts. The people are behind the police. This must be solved quickly.

  2. Sherlock Holmes not sitting on a plane for 8hrs with facemask so he can tell you what you already know. At least investigate the case before you start asking for help. This is not a mystery it happen in broad daylight.

    • Somebody with common sense! Them think it is so easy Scottland Yard go come here in covid times. Maybe them think this is CSI or Law and Order where the crime go get sloved in one hour time.

  3. Commissioner Rodney, stay focused! Do no be knocked off your crease by the ghoulish mob desperate for action. Don’t follow the other one who foolishly WADED into serpent-filled waters ending up naked and hungry and possibly stained for life. However there was enough humble pie around so he did not have to starve to death. Stay focused, Commissioner!

  4. It’s very sad how we are living in our communities with these killers,I’m scared for my life…. do what you have to do to get justice for the officer, no one deserve to die that way, inna little little Antigua !!! What the hell is going on?
    Justice!!!!
    Justice!!!!

  5. Will they be quarantined for 2 weeks before they going around the place and will they have information they can catch up on during their quarantine?

  6. It’s interesting to see how Nayseyers because of their nasty political game’s are calling for the colonizers to intervene in solving this apparent murder. Do they realize that these same countries have several unsolved murders going back for several years? Let the local authorities do the work without all these political interference. They alone should decide when and if they needs outside help. Britain and USA have several unsolved murders going back for donkey years. FBI and Scotland Yard can’t solve as yet.

    • Tell them that again. Interseted to see the people who are leading the charged calling for Scotland Yard. A former MP whoes sister in a canididate in the next election. A former drug junkie who is now a self proclaimed concerned citizen who love stick she nose in what does not concern her. Where was all this noise for all the other unsolved murders? These people look for personal gain from all this.
