Restaurants menu prices should include the 17% Antigua Barbuda Sales Tax

NOTICE. Restaurant Food Service (ABST Notice)

This notice serves to advise operators of restaurants that prices stated on their menus should include the 17% Antigua Barbuda Sales Tax (ABST).

Consumers should be aware of the prices before making their meal choices.

Contrarily to the 10% Service Charge, the ABST should not be added to the consumer’s bill but reflected in the displayed prices.

Under Section 57 of the Antigua and Barbuda Sales Tax Act, pricing methods that exclude the ABST are not acceptable for pricing information.

Operators of restaurants are therefore asked to make the necessary changes to their menus to have the ABST included in the displayed prices.

The division is ready to assist with any additional information you may need to facilitate this important activity.

Please be guided according.

  1. Ok at this point, stop give us this information piece by piece… Just say everything in Antigua is up by 17%! Even the rain water you catch you’ll have to pay 17% on… and bus fare, and the onion you by on the road side… and if you walk too hard on the streets, you’ll pay 17% for that too!
