After a 2020 collision, a man is ordered to pay EMTs Amir Daawuud and Joel Ellis over EC$500,000 in damages.
Driving an ambulance, they were hit by Renaldo Seaton overtaking in the emergency lane. Both suffered spinal injuries, requiring hospitalization.
Daawuud, aged 24, displayed signs of a prolapsed lumbar intervertebral disc, needing surgery.
The injuries affected their work; Daawuud struggled during CPR, and Ellis, unable to drive effectively, retired.
Seaton accepted liability in mediation, dropping the claim against Juann Cornelius.
The resolution concludes the legal dispute.

good one of the idiots driving in antigua got what he deserves…
It makes no sense where is he going to get half a million dollars it’s either jail time or depresión which leads to suicide am sure he don’t hv dat kind of money
Insurance will pay it. That is what it’s for. All he had to do was wait in line like everyone else. Now he is paying the consequences. Those EMTs could have died.
They need to bury him under the jail. Time and time again they can’t wait in line. No civilian vehicle should be in the emergency lane. The traffic laws need to be reviewed as well as the penalty. If they keep getting off with fines, they eventually do the same thing again.
I think that ambulance lane concept needs to be reviewed
It won’t cost him even one cent, his insurance must cover the whole cost. That’s the disadvantage insurance companies have.
