(Press Release)

As relief efforts continue at the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross, our Cash Transfer Programme (CTP) commenced (Saturday) at our headquarters Old Parham Road.

According to President of The Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross, Michael Joseph, “More than 350 households from Barbuda, affected by Hurricane Irma, will benefit from a fortnightly distribution of more than $60,000 USD over the next 3 months to a combined total of $360,000.00 USD.”

The disbursements will be made to a Debit Card provided by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent. To date, this brings The Red Cross’ response activities to over $450,000 USD.

Beneficiary of the CTP Knackiesha Spencer of Codrington Barbuda stated that the Programme is very satisfying. She added that it gives beneficiaries a sense of independence and allows them to adequately meet their needs.

The Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross will continue its relief efforts and looks forward to working with all organizations involved in the response to the passage of Hurricane Irma.
