    • well YOU can go visit! you retired and just running up ya pensioner mouth. go VOLUNTEER and stop being a non-entity to society.

  1. As an active member of this organization, I feel that if you have concerns like these, you can join the movement, visit the MP, and support the effort. We want to upgrade the facility. People with disabilities are employed through the work experience program, and we are currently getting ready to launch a major project that will impact housing, employment, and education for PWDs. Those persons in the photo are the beneficiaries of the program. ppl with disabilities don’t need to be looked at as a “Charity case” but as ppl who contribute to our national economic development. We are celebrating 30 years on June 30th, 2025. Come and celebrate with us. Don’t drive by our head office and criticise us, can join the movement and get a better understanding of the way things work for us as people with disabilities

  2. Congratulations ABAPD. Continue your good works. How will Aquaponics help people with disabilities? They are learning new skills – technical, vocational, administrative you name it. They are building the capacity of people with disabilities to change the narrative from disability to abilities. They are contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Re: Volunteering that’s a good suggestion. The issue I have is with the tone. There is no need to be rude. Inclusion does need more than a visit however this visit has brought attention to the project and should be commended. The visitor also emphasized a positive attitude. Inclusion begins at home. In the district, In the parish in the nation as a natural progression. How can we all help to build a community based on inclusivity? Begin with examining one’s own attitude. Do you know someone with a disability? Are you aware of the challenges they face? Are they discriminated against? How can we change negative attitudes to positive? How can we ensure that we never plan for people with disability but rather include them meaningfully in a participatory process where their opinions are valued?

  3. Retirees are not “non entities”, pensioners get money because they worked and contributed to the system. Retirees have valuable life experience to contribute. In addition we all have to progress developmentally so its only a matter of time that we all reach old age. As we age we appreciate even more an inclusive accessible society with limited architectural barriers, with accessible transportation that can take our walkers and wheelchairs. Even the phones we use with voice recognition becomes more useful as eye sight falter. Ableism is an attitude that discriminates against a person because of a disability. We have to identify intentional and unintentional ableism within our selves.
