Rawdon Turner confirmed as ABLP candidate for St. Peter by-election

Antigua Barbuda Labour Party Leader Gaston Browne has confirmed that Rawdon Turner will be the party’s candidate in the St. Peter by-election.

No date has been announced for the by-election to replace the late Member of Parliament Asot Michael.

There had been other names suggested for representation on the ABLP ticket but Prime Minister Gaston Browne confirmed that the party already has its candidate.

He said Rawdon Turner, who has been the ABLP caretaker and the former ABLP candidate in 2023 is the best choice for the party.

Browne highlighted Turner’s continued work in the constituency even after he lost the last general election to Michael.

The main opposition United Progressive Party has not confirmed their candidate.

Go Green Party will contest with its leader Owen George.

  2. Turner confirmed as ALP candidate while UPP are agitating for state funeral for a comrade. What a set of people. Priorities misplaced! They have absolutely no idea who will be their candidate instead they are looking fight with ALP for a laborite.

Why are all of the best people leaving and no best people coming just promises that prominent civil servants will be leaving the Government to join but a we are hearing they are afraid because of victimization I feel that they are crumbling fast the they are rumors that Serpent , Richard and Franz are also packing their bags so soon no one will be left

    Look at the respect that the UPP and their leader Jamale Pringle is showing the late Asot Michael and his relatives by holding back on their official nomination to-date.

    When the by-election eventually takes place, I hope that the constituents of St Peters vote for the UPP.

  5. I still think that we are being a little insensitive and hasty to be talking about potential candidates to replace him at this time even before the late Member of Parliament is interred. Let’s take things one step at a time and be a little more compassionate, considerate and sympathetic to the family who is still in deep shock and grief over the MP’s untimely death. It’s as if we are in a haste to erase his memory.

  6. I heard this Power-hungry Lunatic say some time ago that he wants winners, not losers. Was Turner a winner in the last elections? It’s public knowledge that he sees personal benefits in disasters and Mr. Michael’s demise is one that he’s counting on. Just over two weeks and he’s ready for a by-election because he thinks that this is his best chance to secure the seat through his partner in crime.

  8. The Deceased Member of Parliament is not even laid to rest.Now the Island and the Constituents should be in mourning as a matter of respect. All Gaston Browne is concerned with staying in Power. By any means necessary. I hope the people of that Constituency send Gaston and Rawdon Turner a resounding message and reject them both at the polls.Time for that man with the Adolf mustache to go.

Simon in SMS resigned, and many to include his alleged Campaign Manager went up against him, yet he won.     While the People of SP – Saint Peter’s are majority Labourites, they don’t necessarily trust the ABLP Administration led by Gaston Browne. This is one of the reasons, even though not the major one [MONEY] why Asot Michael won the seat as an INDEPENDENT.

    Whether or not the ABLP Executive appears to be NOT giving Asot Michael his due respect…
