  1. Some would say yes….others would say no, my Biggest Problem, ANTIGUA//BARBUDA is a Tourist Destination our Public Transportion system is horrible especially at nights after work …. many People stranded at the Bus station. Que Vadis? The water Problem needs to fix, we are going through a Heat 🔥🔥🔥Wave at this time, sorry for the Elderly and the Youth. Our only Public Hospital in my View, the waiting Period too long ….suffering! Suffering! A number of Doctors and nurses tried their Best with the little resourses, The Police should be treated Better…. fix St. John’s Police Main City station, the Police need uniforms ( they look to wash out on the Streets 🙄🙄 ) we need a Proper Cemetery, LAMBERT Burial site to stoney/ Rockey. I saw a Slight Decrease in Crime…. more work needs to be done to reduce it . I can go on and on but I will end here 👈🏾

  2. Absolutely! Prime Minister Browne’s policies have revitalized the economy, especially through tourism and foreign investment. The country’s growth is evident in the infrastructure improvements and job opportunities created. His focus on sustainable development has set a strong foundation for future generations.

  3. While there has been some progress, I feel the focus has been too much on attracting foreign investments at the expense of local businesses. Economic growth is uneven, and not everyone is feeling the benefits.

  4. There are still many issues in the country, such as high unemployment and poverty, that have not been adequately addressed.

  5. I recognize that there have been improvements under Gaston’s leadership, particularly in tourism and international relations. However, I also believe there are areas, such as public infrastructure and social programs, that need more focus.

  6. Hum…Really??? Antigua has gone backwards, that’s for sure!!!! Roads not fixed, no water, more taxes, food prices increase, more duties on imports, more poverty, buildings falling appart, back on the European black list, more corruption. So, no! Under Gaston A&B has not progress!!!
The question should be “Do you believe that Gaston has experienced significant progress in his wealth from A & B????

  7. LIAT- CHECK

Did I leave out something.? Just work on the water and road in the next couple years

  8. The honest truth is, NO. I strongly believe a lot more could have been done and this does not mean I think UPP could have been better. I do not believe they would have been any better.

I strongly believe that had these administration employed experts in their field, like PhD economist, etcetera, Antigua and Barbuda would have achieved 10 times what it has by now.

Also making it easy for folks to establish businesses and endeavors without ministers ignoring you and saying they cannot help Antiguans who are only asking for licensing applications to be decided expeditiously and on the merit is just not conducive to substantial progress.

Government officials should treat citizens like thry treat their children.

There are zero politicians in this era that deserve flowers. They are already getting kickbacks and focusing on themselfs in ways that they should not while holding public office.

  9. Perhaps this is a rhetorical question? The folks who give a thumbs up will obviously be the ones benefitting at tax payers expense.
You would have to be blind to conclude that Gaston Browne has moved Antigua and Barbuda forward. What the clown has done is enriched himself, so he,his cabinet ministers, family and cronies, ass kissers, traitors, political prostitutes, are all sitting pretty.
This talk of UWI Five Islands, LIAT, and so on are fallacies. We will only know the extent of the damage when he is removed from power.

  10. We have given literal killers jobs and education programs while so many upstanding college educated persons can not find jobs or are working below their education level.
Police, firefighters, teachers and other “essential workers” are no longer established government workers and do not receive any type of benefits such as risk pay in this time of high tension, gun violence, gang activity, youth violence, ect.
Government workers are still waiting on backpay from 5 years ago, all we have ever gotten was one month salary which is peanuts in comparison to what it should have been and that was only given the month prior to the most recent election.
Our roads are worse now than ever before.
We are billions of dollars in debt and have no short or long term plan to pay off the debts we owe the world bank, however we keep taking loans.
All taxes have gone up drastically in the last 8 years, pay has gone up across the board as well but conveniently the increase is still lower than taxes rates.
Antigua is on paper one of the richest Caribbean countries but it does not show.

I would be lying to say we have not made any progress whatsoever, but look at the state of the country. Every one step forward is five steps backwards.
We invest in tourism very heavily and no one questions it, do the people of Antigua and Barbuda have any idea why we keep building and expanding hotels? Should our Ministers have shared in these hotels? Many if not all of them receive profits from these hotels and yet we wonder why we keep building them as opposed to developing agriculture or infrastructure.
The current party running Antigua does not care about ite people only the money they can make for themselves, if I don’t make sense just ask yourself why the PM wants to bring in Kartel and Shensea for one nation and expand the length and overall cost of this “free” concert. The citizens are not priority, it is just a popularity contest so they can win another election and continue lining their pockets. Antigua is too nice to be so hard to live in. I can talk about this for hours but as citizens we have to use our voting powers to show whatever government party that we are willing to put them out if they do not treat us and our country with respect. I’m not for one party or the next but we have to do something to make our country better, if we don’t the future will continue to look bleak. There have been positives and negatives with ablp and upp but things can get better only if the nation decides to use the powers we have.

  11. Certainly, if you believe everything via word of mouth……….But in reality, hell NO NO NO NO

  12. I’m sure the rich tourist are loving every inch of their 5 star experience. I’m sure all the Ministers, family and friends are enriched with good jobs and large bank accounts. We the PEOPLE OF ANTIGUA are suffering from the lack of support from our
government. They can’t seem to get it right. ROADS, WATER, FOOD PRICES, ETC.
    Today 2 articles
50 houses or so built in Oliver’s by the National Housing. What a disgrace. Read the articles.
Rehabilitation of St. John’s Police station. (PWD) Looks like you forgot to address all the mold growing on the walls. Every thing that’s done for the People of Antigua is a half ass job. For foreigners, they get 5 🌟 plus.
I WOULD VOTE FOR YOU MR. PM BUT FIRST YOU HAVE TO CLEAN UP THE CORUPTION IN YOUR ADMINISTRATION. IT IS ALWAYS ABOUT YOU AND YOUR GANG.
Are you guys rich enough yet? Have you built your beautiful houses on the beach or hillside? Are your wifes and children set for life?
OK then, it’s time to use some of the people’s taxes to show us you truly care. It’s our turn to see and experience this power house economy you call Antigua.

  13. I believe the key words where ” Significant Progress”. If this is the case, NO would be the answer. Has there been progress, Yes. However, from where I sit, I can safely say that everyday Antiguans are not feeling it. With all the investments in tourism, foreign trade deals, and real-estate. Very few have seen the benefits.

The corruption at every level of management is killing us. Favoritism has eroded the public trust in our institutions, which leads to unqualified persons in positions that would never be tolerated in any productive countries. There needs to be accountability in these institutions and higher standards set for the people the lead them.

You definitely hear about the progress. But hearing and feeling are two totally different things. Too may people are being left behind, while still working hard to put food on the table and raising their children.

  14. ABSOLUTELY!!! The most important being the UWI FIVE ISLANDS CAMPUS!!! Here are just a few that come to mind:

    Homeporting
    Road Rehabilitation [in progress]
    MVI
Increase in wages for publc sector workers
    Kidney Transplant at SLBMC
    Port Expansion
    T20 Cricekt World Cup
    Entrepreneurial Development Fund
SIDS Conference (spin off benefits especially to Pringle and tent renting business)
    ABICE/Harrison Centre expansion
Maria Holder Early Choldhood Centre at Buckleys
    Polyclinics
Sir Novelle Ricahrd Academy (built in less than 2 months)
    Affordable Housing
Importation of Used Vehicles (equality for all)
Free School Meals (no longer have to pay for meals)
    PLH in Barbuda
Stand up to bullies from Scotiabank (local bank must be given 1st preference to buy)

  15. I’ve been waiting for a topic like this on Browne’s governance, me soon come …

    WONDERFULLY, WONDERFUL 😁

    • Tell the ABWU to stop fooling liat workers!!!! If they think they bad, tell them to take it up in court nuh?

  16. Upp pretends like their perfect, Godly, all about empowering people but the reality is they have their own personal interest and AXE TO GRIND!!!

  17. Well @ Sad But True, whatever do you mean? Please explain yourself to the ANR readers, instead of long-winded soundbites.

At least I highlight the ABLP and Gaston Browne’s shortcomings, and leave the readers well informed about how things really are in this country under their tutelage.

Aieee me ah tell you @ Sad But [False] 🤣

    • ask Damani Tabor. He can explain it better than anyone. He is making the rounds on all media houses EXPOSING UPP. Listen and Learn!!!

  18. I didn’t think you could explain yourself @Sad But True. I noticed this in the way that you COULDN’T express what you really wanted to say in the written word.

Don’t worry Yourself though, it took me a few years to master English literature and being a grammarian master. 😉

I know you Gastonites better than you know yourselves …

  19. My two cents on the matter is that: any progress that is made is at best artificial; not real. Everything is done at the expense of something else hence the progress cannot be felt across the society. It is clear that some section of the society is doing well- to include the politicians, the on-percenters, trusted friends and foreign investors but not the rest!
The other point is: at what costs? That we don’t know and every effort is made to keep that away from us so that we don’t know the true value of what we the citizens are paying for this “progress”.
The tragedy is: none of this needed to be so but our PM has decided that most Antiguans will not oppose him; he has enough mouth-pieces who would sing his praises and so the rest who ask for answers can just be ignored. Case in point;- UWI is a good thing but just imagine if it was placed at the Navy Base-that prime property that was given to us and which would have formed part of an area of Tertiary learning. That
was suggested to him but ABLP’s focus is to “stick it to the opposition” and so that guided their choice rather than reason.
Another one is the Car Park down town. If ABLP had just completed that, millions of dollars would have by now flowed into our broke treasury. Instead, they left it right there and according to that Hearst guy, it will be left there as a sign of UPP failure.
Significant progress to me is like we see in St Kitts where all citizens can be given a little bit of their CIP from passport sales.
What do we get in Antigua? We still have the bad roads, infrastructure in general, our old people are not paid on time, healthcare is almost non-existent, and I could go on. So if you love the bling, the show, and listen to the praising mouthpieces, it is easy to think we are making progress. The reality is something else.

  20. @Gijoe Liat was a private limited liability company that went bankrupt. The government of Antigua/Barbuda was a shareholder in the company and lost its investment just like other csribbean countries. Why call on Antigua to pay the workers? The government has offered to pay the workers 33 percent which is equal to the amount of shares that they lost when liat went belly up.

  21. https://www.imf.org/external/datamapper/profile/ATG
    https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NY.GDP.MKTP.KD.ZG?locations=AG
    https://www.macrotrends.net/global-metrics/countries/ATG/antigua-and-barbuda/economic-growth-rate
Antigua and Barbuda economic growth for 2022 was $1.87B, a 16.63% increase from 2021.
Antigua and Barbuda economic growth for 2021 was $1.60B, a 13.51% increase from 2020.
Antigua and Barbuda economic growth for 2020 was $1.41B, a 18.23% decline from 2019.
Antigua and Barbuda economic growth for 2019 was $1.73B, a 3.84% increase from 2018.

Why argue with stupid people. Just provide the data and let them ignore it themselves.

  22. The only people who have benefited are the members of the government; the rest of the population has been left behind.
There was a better water infrastructure during the Father of the Nation rule. Even with all the reverse osmosis systems, there is still no water the country still depends on a private power system
The lack of a diversified economy. If the tourist sector cough the country suffers,
So I would say the surface looks good, but the underside is dark and ugly.

  23. Well said @ D L Martin. Antigua’s over reliance on the tourism sector is hurting Antiguans badly. I’ve never understood why this ABLP government didn’t diversify into other sectors to help boost the economy.

If Gaston Browne is trying to follow China’s 🇨🇳 lead, why didn’t look into other financial sectors to help out?

UNLESS AS WE ALL THOUGHT, HE HATES ANTIGUANS MAKING FINANCIAL PROGRESS …

Swallow dat @ Less We Forget [You]. Your myopia for Gaston Browne is getting worse!!!

  24. The PM does a good job at International Affairs – climate change, financial matters and the like. But, it is difficult for one person to understand and make decisions on the everyday issues that affect the lives of every type of person in a country. Perhaps he needs to delegate more concerning some of those internal matters. Perhaps there should be community representatives or village councils involved in government and taken seriously, allocated budgets to do important things etc. We do have Parliamentary Representatives and Ministers but they too spend a lot of time at overseas meetings, returning and implementing international policies and agreements locally instead of focusing on what the average person in the community needs. Perhaps, in a way, their loyalty is more to the international community than the local persons. We need to collaborate with the international community for sure, but we also need persons creating policies to listen to ideas and concerns from the ground up.

People in different communities have different needs and experiences. Some of these are not yet being adequately met. Persons in some places have sufficient water. Others don’t. Persons in some places have easy access to healthy food. Others don’t. Persons in some places have good roads. Others don’t. Some places have adequate sidewalks. Others don’t. Persons in some communities have sufficient training and employment. Others don’t. Persons in some places have safe, comfortable housing. Others don’t. Persons working in some government facilities have good conditions and administrators. Others don’t. Until every aspect of life is sufficiently tolerable or comfortable for all, there is work to be done.

Persons high in government often live in the areas where the housing is comfortable, the roads are good, the water is flowing, all the neighbours are employed, there is no social unrest, food is readily available. They can afford to shop any and everywhere locally, regionally, or internationally to get anything that they need. They can become a bit out of touch with the daily stress faced by people who lack in any, or even many of these areas. So, when they budget and spend public money, they don’t always prioritise the things that average people consider as important.

It is important that the needs of average people are well represented and considered. So, progress has been made in many areas, but more needs to be done to ensure that every citizen has adequate access to clean water, healthy food, truly affordable housing that matches salaries or salaries that allow people to afford decent housing, reliable roads and sidewalks, healthcare, and education and employment prospects.

  25. @D L Martin
When people like you make those baseless statements after I present the facts about economic growth I just wonder what is it that you people eat or drink to be in such denial of the reality.
When you want to see how economic growth has affected the common man you look at a few things in the economy: the labour market. Is there wide spread unemployment, the housing market. Is the construction of houses up. The car industry. Are more cars imported into the country. And last but not least the savings at the banks. The ECCB Governor said the bank in Antigua are very liquid. Over two billion dollars in savings.
I mean what is wrong with you guys?
Never mind I know what is wrong with you guys. You just cannot accept it. Well stay in denial if that pleases you
