Fake census agents robbing homes, police warn
Criminals posing as census workers are targeting households in a series of reported home invasions, police have warned.
The suspects, claiming to be from the Department of Home Affairs, use fake documents to gain entry under the pretext of verifying ID cards.
Authorities confirmed the operation is a scam and not part of any official census activity.
Victims said the impostors appeared convincing, wearing formal attire and carrying what looked like government credentials.
Police have urged the public to deny entry to unverified individuals and to report any suspicious visits.
Residents are also being encouraged to alert neighbours and relatives.

Can’t believe folks would use the census as a scam. Disgraceful.

The government needs to roll out a verification hotline or something.
Please make sure kids and teens home alone know not to open the door.

Maybe they should pause the census until things are under control.

The legal census takers should be all transported to an area, such as a Village in one vehicle(bus).
They should all be wearing a highly visible vest🦺 with the proper credentials encased in a chest pocket. These vests are only to be distributed by a supervisor/manager, of the team, once they arrive at their assigned area for that day. All vests MUST be similar and collected, at the end of that day’s shift.
Antigua and I’m assuming this is happening in Antigua, the place is too small for this type of crime to even be taking place.
