Member of Parliament for St. John’s Rural South Hon. Daryll Matthew is playing his part in the fight against crime in his constituency.

This as MP Matthew has handed over to the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda a Police Outpost which is located in Nut Grove.

The new Police Outpost aims to reduce the response time of the Police while maintaining a police presence in the densely populated area.

According to an article in the Antigua Observer of October 3, 2023, residents of Nut Grove and surrounding areas recommended “setting-up a police outpost closer to the community”.

The recommendation came at a townhall meeting organized by MP Matthew with residents to discuss the crime situation in the area.

The outpost has been placed on a plot of land once occupied by what was described as a criminal “safehouse”, a half-constructed building notorious for sheltering criminals. The building was demolished after residents described it as “a hotspot for illegal activity”.

Before this new Police Outpost, residents of Nut Grove and surrounding communities would have to seek assistance from either the Grays Farm or the St. John’s Police Station.

  1. The people of that Constituency have calling for such an outpost for the last 10 years.Gladys Potter has been pushing for such a Police Station for years in the Nut Grove/Golden Grove Communities. Now, you Daryl Matthew is taking a photo op with the Police. Give me a damn break, lazy arse people.

  2. Promise kept! It’s really nothing more than campaigning. That has nothing to do with his portfolio so it’s clear that he’s all about gaining political mileage. Some of them have started so look out for the others.

  3. DARYL MATTHEW ‘…40-FOO CONTAINERIZED’ POLICE OUTPOST…?

    WELL:

It has been said that ‘…A picture is worth a thousand Words.’

Whatever was conceived and believed, this ‘PICTURE’ could easily be perceived to have worth more than meets the eye.

    PHOTO SHOOT

A really good-looking ‘…PHOTO SHOOT,’ with the graceful images of:

    (i) ‘…Commissioner of Police, Atlee Rodney QPM:

    (ii) …Superintendent Samuel Joseph:

(iii) …Assistant Superintendent Alston Ryan: and

(iv) …Inspector Selwyn Thomas,’ all ‘…FLANKING’

(ii) …Daryl Matthew- New Police Minister/POLICE OUTPOST DONOR:

    SOM TING YOUK WONG (Vernacular)

Clearly, ‘…Som Darn Ting Youk Wong.’

    EXPLOITED POLITICAL GOONS

Those that provided the imagery, run the risk of being perceived as: ‘…Exploitable Political Goons.’

Still, this may not be said of:

    (i) ‘…Deputy Commissioner-ADMINISTRATION, PASTOR Everton Jeffers: and

(ii) …Deputy Commissioner- OPERATIONS, Albert ‘MOST POWERFUL’ Wade QPM.

    BEST PRACTICE

From professional training and knowledge and ‘…Police Administration and ‘…BEST PRACTICE,’ dictate that no ‘…Commissioner of Police’ shall accept ‘…ANY PERSONALLY-FUNDED POLICE OUTPOST OR GIFTS,’ from:

    (a) ‘….Members of Parliament:
    (b) …Politicians, in Government/Opposition: nor
    (c) …Portfolio Ministers of Cabinet:

    WHY…?

Police Stations are the ‘…Provisional Responsibility’ of the ‘…STATE.’

VEXED ISSUES-SPATE OF ROBBERIES AND COMMUNITY FEARS’

These were the ‘VEXED ISSUES’ reported to have been of:
    (a) ‘…Grave citizen concerns: with
    (b) …Serious Political implications.’

    COMMUNITY OUTCRIES – PROVOKED QUESTIONS

Besides the public and ‘…Community Outcries,’ it has also
    provoked certain questions:

    QUESTIONS:- POLICY-DECISION

    (a) ‘…Had there been a ‘…Policy-Decision’ taken that a ‘…POLITICIAN: or …MEMBER OF
PARLIAMENT OR CABINET MINISTER’ taken at the ‘…Highest NATIONAL SECURITY
    LEVEL?.

    (b) …Were there active participation and ‘…National Security Contributions’ from:

    (i) …Chairman-Prime Minister Gaston Browne?
(ii) …Member, Principal Legal Adviser to Government, Steadroy ‘Cutie” Benjamin:
(iii) …Member/Chief of Defence Staff Colonel Telbert Benjamin: and
(iv) …Member/Commissioner of Police, Atlee Rodney QPM?’

    NOW

    (i) ‘…Why was there ‘NO’ photo imagery of the entire ‘…Daryl Matthew Police Outpost’ said to be a ‘…40-FOOT CONTAINERIZED UNIT?

(ii) …Why was the ‘…State’s Attorney General and substantial ‘…POLICE MINISTER,’ Sir
Steadroy ‘Cutie’ Olivero Benjamin KGCN,’ not present to take charge of the
    building/facility?

(iii) …Were there effective safety measures, including ‘…Perimeter Fence’ around the
Containerized Police Outpost.’ installed for the of the safety of assigned
    personnel?’

  4. Community advocate Jermaine Edwards has been highlighting the need for police presence in the community to help ensure the safety of its residents. It is nice to see Minister D. Matthew has been listening. Looking forward to the community Healthcare facility that she has also been calling for.

  5. A promise is not worth a thing. If what promised are mere words. We need to see that Police Post in action in the Community.

  6. Mr. Matthew have heart more than a pack of card, instead of demolishing the alleged building, why didn’t you finished it and give the police a building instead of a 40 foot container. Antigua done so hot already, next thing they’ll complain about is the the heat in the container. BTW I believe he listened to the prospective candidate Jermaine Edwards details her plans on observer about the police outpost, please bring the clinic too that she spoke about.
