Prisoner stabbed in the eye, another in the face

One inmate at Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) will reportedly be taken to an eye specialist following two separate stabbings at the prison last week.

According to reports, police were called to investigate the incidents.

Media reports said Prison Superintendent Lieutenant Colonel Eugene Philip confirmed that a prisoner was stabbed in the prison’s maximum-security wing on Thursday.

The prisoner was reportedly nursing wounds to his neck and above his eye and has an appointment with an eye specialist today.

Another inmate was reportedly stabbed in his back and around his eye in another incident on Saturday.

On Friday, Nathaniel H. Williams posted on his Facebook Page that his brother Darius Williams had been attacked while asleep in the prison’s maximum-security wing at HMP.

He said his brother was stabbed several times to the “eyes, head, temple and other sensitive areas.”

Darius recently surrendered to investigators after police put out a wanted bulletin for his arrest.

He was subsequently charged for allegedly breaking into a building on Long Street and stealing several items.

Nathaniel claimed he received information that his brother was found with a “cannabis joint” in prison and as punishment, prison guards placed him in the maximum-security wing with “a highly dangerous inmate who’s suspected of murder.”

He said the family was seeking public support to raise $4000 to bail his brother and get him needed medical treatment.

  1. Prison is not a pleasant place. It’s not supposed to be. You commit the crime and you do the time, and it ain’t gonna be pretty.

  2. @ Conrad , The article never stated that he was sentenced. Rather it is alleged that he broke into a building and stole items . The matter hasn’t been completed in court not was he sentenced. So, he may very well be innocent. Therefore, stating “if you commit the crime, you do The time” isn’t a relevant response to this stabbing incident.

  3. Wow! Sounds like those inside the red door are the ones having all the fun. Editor I bet you can’t tell last you stab somebody in the eye.

  4. The prison hierachy needs to explain how this was possible. Contrabands need to be search for at all times. If prisoners can stab one another they can also stab a guard for that matter.
How often do they have a sweep for all contraband.
