SOURCE REAL NEWS: Pringle joins Lovell in condemning PM’s attack on Crump and calls for Minister Maria Browne to be accountable

MP Jamale Pringle, political leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP) is joining his predecessor, Harold Lovell, in condemning the attack of Prime Minister Gaston Browne on Aldin Crump, a senior public servant in the Ministry of Works.

In an analytical article published in today’s Daily Observer, Lovell chides Browne for seeking to usurp the authority of the Public Service Commission and for appearing to condone the illegal practice of public servants accepting “gifts” for services.

Pringle says he also finds Browne’s allegations of bribery and kickbacks distasteful, and notes that such “personal” assaults bring the office of the prime minister into disrepute.

The Opposition Leader is also asking why Browne – and not his wife, Public Works Minister Maria Browne – is speaking to the issue of road repairs.

“For years now, the public has been complaining about the condition of both the main roads and the side roads, and their complaints have fallen on deaf ears,” Pringle says.

“Now, instead of holding her accountable for her portfolio, the prime minister is laying all the blame at the feet of the director of Public Works and even threatening to send him home,” Pringle adds.

“But the buck stops with her. She is the one who must answer to the public,” he says.

The All Saints East & St. Luke MP notes that he and his Opposition colleagues have complained, time and again, about the poor infrastructure in their constituencies – seen as a punishment to those who voted against the Antigua Labour Party in the last elections.

“In order to alleviate some of our constituents’ suffering,” he says, “we have had to perform functions that are the responsibility of the Ministry of Works – repairing kerbs, clearing waterways and overgrown roadways, putting down stones and marl….

“Where was the minister? What has she been doing all this time?” he asks.

He says it appears that Browne wants accountability to apply only to public servants, but not to those elected to run the country.

And even when the prime minister calls out civil servants and the managers of government corporations, such as the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA), Pringle says, it is always to further a political objective; never in the people’s interest.

  1. Jamale Pringle just woke up. According to Mr Knight “ WHERE IS THE OPPOSITION “. Jamale Pringle is joining Harold Lovell. Is Harold Lovell the Opposition Leader ? Anytime I see or hear Jamale Pringle or Gisel Isaac I instantly get PISSED off. The Prime Minister is correct…At least the roads are being repaired .

When is Jamale Pringle will be able to put two sentences together?
Where is the slate of Candidates. Candidates are quitting before They start.
Clean your DAMN house before criticizing. You DAMN Dune / FOOL.

  2. I think we all know “Pringle” isn’t saying a single thing.

As bad as it is having a puppet for the leader of an opposition party, wouldn’t it have made more sense to make the puppet “lead from the front” before Lovell?

A what is dis yah tarl?

I recommend a 3 debate series next general election. People deserve to know what Jamale Pringle really thinks, if at all. No more hiding behind mommy’s skirt.

    • Pringle is a DEAD DARG, PICK-UP-CORN, UPSIDE DOWN BIBLE HOLDER. He lacks the BASIC READING, WRITING, COMPREHENSION AND REASONNING SKILLS!

  3. First we heard from Harold Lovell on this particular matter, and now the Most Honourable Jamale Pringle is highlighting that the Minister for Housing, Land and Urban Renewal Maria Browne must also be held to account; even more so than the Public Works Director.

Many of the discerning amongst us, just cannot understand why she’s exempt from the same criticism.

If the Director of Public Works does lose his job, then it goes without saying that so should Maria Browne.

Let’s here how the ABLP supporters are going to defend this … I could do with a good belly laugh 😂

  4. And one more thing…

In the words of the grassroots philosopher J’Truth: “Road a Fix NF”

Force makes water go uphill. It’s not always pretty but until the utopia of public sector reform, which all governments have failed to fully achieve, strong interventions will be required from time to time.

All the voters care about is results.

Even so, I will still say thank you Harold for your analysis…

You never had the strength to apply your deep and expansive knowledge of proper procedure to containing Gisele Isaac, who has wrecked both your life’s goal of being Prime Minister and the entire UPP.

You have now found your niche, writing academic editorials from your safe space in Canada. Do continue to abide within your calling.

    • LMAO! You sound like a real baxide!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  5. Pringle is 100% correct. Mrs. PM is to blame and she should be sacked. These ALP ministers are dimwitted and incompetent. Everything in this country is in a perpetual state of disrepair.

I have tried to explain to you how the Gaston Browne Cabinet works, but your head hard or you just plain stupid.
It is run as COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY. Not anyone minister run their ministry on their own. That is why the PM had a fall out with Michael Brown and with Dean Jonas. They took actions that had no Cabinet approval. The model Browne has introduce keeps a close watch on the ministers. Everyone has a say in everyone’s ministry. So when there is a problem in one ministry everyone chimes in. And that is why the various persons in the department and State Owned Corporation and Staturtory bodies are called in from time to time to explain to Cabinet what their issues are. That way all ministers have a first hand knowledge and they can make their suggestion to the substantive minister to execute. In the case of Public Works, Crump was called numerous times before Cabinet, and he ran out of excuses, so the PM gave him an ultimatum, shape up or ship out. Which is very mild. In the private sector you only get one warning letter and you are out. Public Sector is so different and that is why performance is so low in the public sector. They have job security and know they cannot be fired. They can only be transfered to somewhere else. Reason why I will never work in the public sector. I don’t take that shit from employees. The inmates cannot be seen running the asylum. Crump was very disrespectful towards the minister. Ignoring her many calls and memo’s and whatsapp messages. I think he has a problem reporting to a woman. Mail Chauvenism. Which is very rampant in this country. But that is another story.

  7. The problem I have with Crump is that he is a LABORITE and COMRADE. Why and when is it that he has become so antagonistic against his own party leaders. Was it because they didn’t allow him to run for St. John’s Rural North Constituancy. I mean he was beaten by Osmond Lake that year. Who then lost against John Maginly. Whatever it is Crump has an axe to grind and that is exactly how I see it.

  8. How could you hold someone you cannot see accountable? When was the last time MARIA BROWNE was ever seen on the work? I say work, others would say job.In my opinion,a job is rearing a family to become law abiding honest citizens. She is getting a hefty salary for doing nothing. She is only seen when on trips with her husband, the TAP DAWG.Do the work for which your husband appointed you to carry out.

    • @WHARF RAT u dutty tongue liadd!!!!! Minister Maria does not travel much with her husband. Even ow he is away at COP29 in Azerbaijan, she is in Antigua! Are you too lub spread LIES and PROPAGANDA!

  9. @ Less We Forget, many thanks for the belly laugh 😂

You NEVER fail … thanks again, unless you have more rib ticklers for me 😂😂😂

  10. The UPPites are always so lost. The same Pringle a few months ago pointed out he respected the GB because he gets the job done. The PM now ensures the job gets done yet they are now complaining. Lovell should know and respect we truly have no tissue paper leader (How he described Baldwin)

  11. I previously asked why was Crump so viciously attacked by the PM and not the Minister of Works all of them are just as incompetent and the hammer should have been brought down on everyone. Pringle seems as though he needed a push start

  12. Lord have mercy, so much road fixing since the world bosd call out the director. More sugar cakes than ever along with the nicely cut road patches. World boss, continue to call them names so that they can do better.

  13. @ D’Onally, there’s no way you live in Antigua after that ridiculous comment about “nicely cut road patches”. Either that or you don’t travel much to other Caribbean islands – if at all!

Keep the jokes coming though you ABLP supporters, I thought that @ Less We Forget was funny and misguided, but D’Onally is just as hilarious 😂

Thanks guys, keep it going while I’m enjoying my bullfoot soup 🥣… Hmmmmm bullfoot 😋 slurp!

  14. Criticise all you like, roads are suddenly being fixed, left, right and centre. There is always a breaking point and thanks to the PM taking this stand, we are getting action. Maria is an absent Minister so the PM has taken the reign. He is the boss.
Now he has to do the same at APUA Water division.
Did everyone see what the President of Guyana did earlier this week. At some point enough is enough. President Alli has billions of Guyana dollars of infrastructure projects months and years behind. He summoned Ministers, PSs, Engineers, Contractors to a 5.30 am meeting. Locked out all late comers including Ministers and then tore their clothes off, live on Facebook and other platforms. Sometimes, this is what it calls for. Drastic measures and who ever is offended, the public and the country will benefit. If you are offended then find another job that will tolerate inefficiencies.

  15. Pringle when are you going to address the roads in Follys and John Huhges? the alley behind Val’s shop in Swetes that goes to the ball field, St. Anns road, Matthews Road, the road by Spencer that people you went to school with live on?

  16. Brixxy. I love your sarcasm. LOL. Pringle will fix everything when he becomes PM.LOL. LOL. He can’t fix the UPP but he will fix the country.

  17. You give me a break Pringle and Lovell, UPP don’t seem to have any political ideology, they want lionize asot and crump who sit back and become part of Gaston state capture of civil servants and probably the judiciary and police quiet along ONDCP guy and DCA head and environment department , this man crump don’t do a thing but allow c.o Williams to dominate and they just have academic title and job entitlement by politics, they couldn’t work no where else in the world, stop that nonsense upp, now it’s a sketchy situation between a young boy and asot, where they put that boy in maximum security do he don’t talk and reveal embarrassing situations, which am sure the prime minister knows why they not going for full state funeral, but you conflating Gaston and asot political rivalry with with permutations needed now in this circumstances, I don’t back party I back country, it seems as though upp is rudderless right now, political centrism hail the same master so there is no difference between the two party.
