Despite criticism from the opposition and many in the public that his decision to revoke the ministerial portfolio of MP Asot Michael was premature,  Prime Minister Gaston Brown is saying he only makes decisions thoughtfully.

After news broke Monday that Michael had been detained for questioning by London Metroploitan Police, the Prime Minister, within hours, announced that he was removing Michael as Tourism, Investment and Energy Minister.

Later, word came that Michael was released and free to travel. The United Progressive Party, Vere Bird III of Antigua True Labour Party and some politicial analysts said the prime minister acted too quickly without all the facts.

Browne, however, responded on Facebook, a favourite medium of his, referring to himself in the third person.

“Gaston Browne never takes premature decisions, no matter how speedily the decision was made. You can now disabuse your mind of that notion. Peace & Love,” he said.

Meantime, the Head of Caribbean, Central America & Mexico Department of thr UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA), Patrick Reilly, gave insight into the reason behind MP Michael’s detention.

Reilly wrote that Michael was questioned about bribes that a UK national allegedly paid for business contracts in the Caribbean.

  1. Yes GASTON you did….you wanted to remove him lannnngggg time but do that you wudda have to explain all the treachery behind your decision…

You were only to happy to fire without even a fonecall to Asots …you do have his numbers ..you reacted swiftly too dammm swifly …which shows a couple of things.

    1. Lannng time you want him out..
2.When hes publickly drunk he embarrasses the party
    3. He has no claim to politics besides how great he can launder monies fe you n ur frens
    4 He knows too much

  2. ANTIGUA PEOPLE LIKE “WOMEN “YOU CAN’T PLEASE THEM ONE BIT ….IF HE DID NOT FIRE HIM YOU WOULD HEAR THE PEOPLE, NOW HE DID YOU STILL HEARING THE PEOPLE CAN’T PLEASE …..GASTON DON’T REALLY LIKE YOUR PARTY BECAUSE I THINK THE MINISTERS ARE LOOKING OUT FOR THEM SELVES I KNOW OF THE ONE IN ALL SAINTS WEST THAT IS RUNNING. .LET ME ME JUST HOLD THAT FOR NOW. …..BUT WHAT IS OUR OPTION UPP THAT WAS A DISASTER THE LAST TIME WE TRIED THEM SO WHAT CAN THE PEOPLE DO, UP TO NOW NO WATER IN RENFEW, HERBERTS THE ROADS ARE CRAZY ….THANKS FOR CHANDLER OR WE WOULD HAVE WALKING ON QUICK SAND…

    • That’s how we are as human beings. If the PM had not taken such an action, the critics would have been singing another tune. It’s just the nature of politics. They know how the game goes.

  3. This was just a most convenient opportunity to do what the PM has been wanting to do for some time. He doesn’t like Ascot, he embarrasses the party, he is too smart, knows too much, and will use it to his advantage when needed. That bothers the PM. But now he may have made an enemy and a very smart one at that and one that can do grave harm to the PM.
