Prime Minister Gaston Browne to be featured in Netflix Documentary

23

Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne will be among a cast of expert sources appearing in a Netflix film that documents the grueling journey of small island states in dealing with the varied and deeply troubling issues of climate change.

During his visit to New York for the UN General Assembly, Prime Minister Browne was able to set aside time out of a busy schedule to share his insights with the film crew which has been in the process of shooting the documentary since 2021.

The film will carry the working title, “1.5” – an appropriate choice as this is the temperature level that scientists have warned is the tipping point for climate change to reach the crisis proportions.

Shooting on the film began during the frenetic lead-up to the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, otherwise known as COP26. It will seek to take its audience behind the closed doors of the heated exchanges in securing climate justice for small states.

Prime Minister Browne was sought after by other media outlets for his thoughts on the issue of climate change and his leadership in bringing the attention of the global community to the concerns of small states. Among the news agencies that secured an interview with the Prime Minister was the New York Times.

The award-winning international climate reporter for the Times, Somini Sengupta, sat with Prime Minister Browne for over an hour to speak on the possibilities for the proposed Multidimensional Vulnerability Index (MVI). The MVI seeks to improve access to concessional financing for countries like Antigua and Barbuda, especially in times of crisis.

In November, COP27 will convene in Egypt and this is expected to set the scene for the final stages of filming for the production that is expected to be released on Netflix in 2024.

Prime Minister Browne is Co-Chair of a UN expert panel on the MVI and also serves as Chair of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS).

  2. Yea Gaston it’s a good look 👍🏾 because Pringle and Harold can’t act, they would fall asleep on the set. 😂

    • @ RED RED. I understand that the people in the wardrobe department at Netflix were on standby in case Gaston had pulled down his pant and showed his bottom to the camera!

      • @Janice

😂Maybe you should go on standby in case they need a wh*re for a sex screen so Gaston can push his d*ck in your mouth then bend you over and put it in your b*tty hole. it seems like you need some excitement or better yet before you type put your fingers to good use you damn non element; go f*ck yourself😒

        • @ RED RED : Why so vulgar! Did I touch a nerve because you know that Gaston is a vagabond.
Dear , dear, you are so coarse. I guess you can’t help yourself! After all you support the ABLP

          • Although I do not subscribe to Red Red’s unhealthy response to your comments, I’m still trying to fathom why do you guys choose to provoke others like the PM who you already know is reactionary? I don’t ever accept every response by him. I know he says that he does it all in the name of political banter. That’s his style of reaction. We can’t change him now. He is who he is…

I am of the view though that many of you are egging on the nonsense by disregarding his position and accomplishments. He is an accomplished entrepreneur. Smart at many business ventures. Willing to take risks, despite the unfavorable outcomes in some cases. He has done well for Antigua and Barbuda, if we can be objective for a moment. He is a visionary.

The fact that Netflix has chosen to use him in a documentary should speak volumes. It will enhance our tourism product and investment opportunities.
            Let’s be kind at times.
Antigua and Barbuda needed him at this in our history.

If you don’t like his politics, then exercise your franchise at the polls. If you are lucky to have sufficient people who think like you vote against him, he will be the oppostion leader.

But in the meantime, the bashing is totally unnecessary and unwarranted. Then we wonder why our children behave the way they do.

            Please forgive any grammatical errors.
            Blessings

    • This is not acting…its the real thing…no script, no prep questions… Real talk…Real men. Make us proud Mr. Prime Minister

  3. So they have failed at managing the world’s economies but they think they are capable of controlling the weather? Is anyone else a little skeptical?

  4. Is he playing the role of the devil or of Hitler? He is well suited for the role of either!

  7. Gaston already stars, directs and produces his own feature film every single day. He started with ground fakings, now he has moved on to ghost contracts and floating bonds. Viewers beware. It’s all part of a Netflix movie.

  8. This is a great opportunity to explain and showcase to the world the terrifying threats presented by climate change small vulnerable countries and states. The Prime Minister will be making the case in the documentary for our Twin Island State Antigua and Barbuda, the countries of the OECS, Caricom and the wider Caribbean and small and vulnerable countries and States throughout the world. It is important for us and the planet. Let’s support this.

  9. Did Ms Sengupta trouble herself to find out who Gaston Browne, The Climate Change spokesman, really is? Does she know that that same man is bullying the Barbudans and destroying the ecosystem on their tiny island? Does she know that he has given investors full permission to destroy the mangroves around Antigua and Barbuda and a Ramsar site on Barbuda?

Stop looking for major media moments, Ms Lady and do your research, before you start to lionize him.

    • Lol, you gave me a good laugh. You guys are skilled in bringing down your own without merit. Yet you do nothing to build your conutry.
