He wants to have his cake and eat it. He is now opportunistically trying to extract personal sympathy and political value for his UPP cronies.
He has had 40 yrs squatting on the public beach without paying a red cent. As a man ostensibly in his 70’s, he had 40 yrs to build a savings for his retirement.
He operated a one man business for 40 years, instead of building a sustaining business.
Now that he has advanced in age, he doesn’t have the energy to operate the business and was forced to close it four years ago, leaving the derelict structure to further decay.

He should have been removed by the DCA since 1993 when the Halcyon Cove Extension was build. Papa Bird ordered that all the venidng on the beach needed to have stopped.
Squatting is illegal, but it seems that in Antigua many are allowed to do illegal things without suffering the consequences. That is why we have a somewhat lawless society. WOW. WOW. What in darkness must come to light. You shed light on Kelsick back door deal that backfired.
Based on the responses the PM, then there were no bargained for exchange. One party had the upper hand and the other did not. In contract law, that is an invalid contract and such agreement is unenforceable.
No matter what, this man would have to accept whatever was offered to him. However, this man should have employed an attorney and seek actions/relief in court immediately to stay all execution of any removal.
But enough facts (let me assume they are true) that is sufficient to show that procedural and substantive unconscionability existed that left one party without the ability to negotiate.
But there may be a defense against that, the fact he had time to seek representation and take actions in court but failed to do so.
I would truly need to know his profits yearly to determine whether he was given a bad deal of the $100,000usd to relocate. Also cost to relocate and finding other location, storage and so forth are relevant factors.

By the way, the area between the now Royalton Chic and Sandals MUST be converted into a PAID PUBLIC PARKING LOT, with Public Restrooms.
The last time I visited this beach, my friends(first time visitors to Antigua) had to park at the North side of the Salt Pond, and trespass across private property just to get to the beach and to support, businesses like Shorty’s Beach Bar.
One of the ladies wanted to change and use the Restroom to urinate, since, she was kinda #Hoitee_Tithee. Lo and behold, when she tried to flush🏃🏿♂️🏃🏿♂️🕺🏾I had to run to Shorty’s Beach Bar, grab a bucket🪣, run to the sea🌊grab a few buckets of water to flush! Flush! Flush!
At least, I showed her, how to run sand between her palms and rinse off in the sea while bathing.
Not a good look for first time visitors to Our shores.
Again, a paid Public Parking Lot between Sandals and the Royalton_Chic can pay for Parking lot attendants, build and maintain proper restroom facilities.
Let the HOTELS provide PARKING for their EMPLOYEES. They get enough concessions and perks.

I have noticed over a period of time that this newspaper does have a bias towards the United Progressive Party and maybe that’s all part of Democracy but when a person puts out a lie that is intended to obscure the truth making others believe the lie that makes no sense. If this newspaper is going to assist people to peddle their lies, we really do have a problem in our fair land.
Where’s the evidence that someone is lying? Because there a counter argument to what was originally said doesn’t prove that a lie was told.

This is absolutely amusing. So, the business was closed for 4 years, but he still tried to strong arm Royalton? I agree with the PM on this one. 40 years was enough time for him to create a retirement plan. Who is legally entitled to squat on a beach for 40 years? The only thing I disagree with was the demolition being done after midnight if that is even the case.
Everyone that knows Mr Kelsick knows that his bar was only opening for couple days a year and he constantly sayin he no needed work to live anymore. Seems he just making noise for political interests, so sad.
